SCRWA Cancels Remainder of 2020 Events
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of all the remaining SCRWA 2020 events including Equipment & Operators Expo, Annual Conference and OfficePro.

We did not come to this decision lightly, however we do know it is the best decision to keep you, our rural water family, safe and healthy. These industry events are important, and we would have preferred to have the "show go on." However, we are seeing more and more utilities and vendors place travel and event restrictions on their associates. These restrictions along with ongoing health concerns were all factored into our decision to cancel the events.

All SCRWA events play an important role in the financial support of the Association's programs and services. The cancellation of all 2020 events is a financial hardship on the Association and as such we are taking tax deductible donations.  If you would like to donate your registration fee to the Association, please let us know, and we will issue your company a letter that may be used for tax deduction purposes.

**IMPORTANT ** Please let us know in writing ([email protected]) if you would prefer donation or refund. If you have registered for multiple events, please let us know how much is a donation or how much to refund. For bookkeeping purposes, please contact us no later than August 31 if you would like to donate your registration fee. Anything after August 31 will be considered a refund.

Currently, SC Department of Labor, Licensing, & Regulation will still require 12 hours of continuing education for license renewal on June 30, 2021. This fall, SCRWA will be offering online training - a total of 16 continuing education hours - to make up for the deficit from canceling our events. Visit www.SCRWA.org for additional information and for an up-to-date list of training classes.

We hope that normalcy will return in 2021 and all annual events will be held at their scheduled times and in person. Visit our website for information on all SCRWA's annual events.

Thank you for your patience and stay healthy!

The Similar System Survey is a new initiative for Circuit Riders to conduct voluntary financial surveys and report additional data to USDA/Rural Development to assist with the agency's lending process. In Search for a Coronavirus Early Warning System, Scientists Look to the Sewers.

Poop doesn't lie. That's why scientists are looking at sewers running under the world's cities and towns for information they hope will help to stem the spread of the coronavirus. Read full article here.
House Hearing Finds SDWA Not Working

Last week, the House subcommittee with jurisdiction over the Safe Drinking Water Act held an oversight hearing for 2 hours on the SDWA.  During the hearing, the chairman of the committee stated the SDWA is not working in the context of setting standards for new drinking water contaminants (hear recording on YouTube). Alabama's PFAS Settlement with 3M Company Includes Long-term Obligations to Investigate and Clean up PFAS Throughout the State

3M has spent $100M on PFAS cleanup in the state and agrees to pay much more.  Alabama and EPA officials called it a landmark agreement, the "most far-reaching and significant enforcement action to date taken in regard to PFAS in the country (Star Tribune).
