A Special Thank You from a Grateful Mother and FAU Medical School Employee

Patrick Hughes, D.O.
"As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday break, it is especially timely for me to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the wonderful care my son Austin received this month from the ER team of attendings, residents, nurses, and technicians at Bethesda Hospital East led by Patrick Hughes, D.O., assistant program director of FAU's emergency medicine residency. Austin's weekend fishing trip at the Boynton Beach Inlet turned dangerous when he found himself overtaken by rough currents and stranded as he clung to a coral-covered pillar in the inlet. Following his rescue, I asked first responders to transport Austin to Bethesda Hospital East to treat his numerous cuts and scrapes. Fortunately, he was otherwise unharmed.

Even in the midst of stormy weather (which "blew" in a full patient load), Dr. Hughes and the team treated my son's physical and emotional health and really demonstrated their concern for him as an individual - before even realizing that he was my son. I am so thankful to the team at Bethesda Hospital East. I know that any patient would get the same level of personalized treatment and passionate care that we received."

Sincerely,
Venus Davis-Wallace, C-TAGME
