Dear Members of Ladue Chapel,
In these days we are grateful for your continued faithfulness. We want to continue to update you about what’s going on in the life of our congregation. At its last meeting on January 27, 2021, your new session decided unanimously for the church to continue to refrain from indoor, in-person worship and small group gatherings until after Easter on April 4th. While we continue to be frustrated by an unpredictable pandemic, there is actually lots of good news we can share with you.
The installation of new cameras in our sanctuary will enable us to go back to live-streaming Sunday morning worship. This means we will all actually worship together again on Sunday morning … albeit still virtually for a little while. We are planning for our first live-streaming service to be on the first Sunday of Lent, February 21st. This is a significant step toward reopening the church!
As Lent is about to begin in a few weeks, we will offer many opportunities for outside in-person worship on the Ladue Chapel campus. These will include:
- Ash Wednesday drive-through imposition of ashes and distribution of Lenten worship boxes,
- Palm Sunday Easter egg hunt for our children,
- Maundy Thursday communion services in the St. Andrew’s Memorial Garden,
- Good Friday modified stations of the cross on the Ladue Chapel grounds,
- Holy Saturday labyrinth walk,
- Easter morning outdoor sunrise service.
Also, as the days grow longer again and temperatures are warming, we are exploring a variety of opportunities to gather for Wednesday evening worship, hymn sings, and fellowship events.
The good news for our families with young children is that we will be inviting the children back into the building for Route 3-4-5 and other activities.
It is our fervent prayer that you are healthy and safe as we work diligently toward welcoming everybody back as soon as it is safe to do so. With vaccinations progressing at hopefully increasing speed, we are confident that we can be with one another in-person in the foreseeable future. We so appreciate your continued support and patience as we navigate these uncharted waters together.
Grace and Peace,
Doug
