Dear Colleague,
Together, we have endured an incredibly challenging academic year. But here we are, at the beginning of Fall—with news that can help you and your students move forward through this challenging time.
Adelphi University’s Fall 2020 Restart Plan laid out a safe reopening strategy and a transition to virtual learning and counseling that is keeping our COVID-19 numbers exceptionally low—a third of a single percentage point. In addition, we are developing an action plan to address a deeper commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion across campus. While it’s not a traditional fall semester by any means, we are very grateful to have our Panthers back.
As you browse through our monthly editions of Discover Adelphi this year, please know this is your newsletter—to assist you, your students and their families throughout the admissions process. Feel free to let me know what you need, and how we can best share the news about our unique approach to higher education. Test-Optional Policy for Fall 2021, Spring 2022 Admission |
|
Adelphi has adopted a temporary test-optional policy, allowing your students the option, but not the requirement, to submit the SAT or ACT for Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 admission. In addition, merit scholarships will not be contingent on submission of test scores. We hope this shift will help reduce the stress of an already complicated process for your students and offer them and their families more flexibility during these unprecedented times.

Adelphi's New Gap Year Experience |

Do you know someone interested in taking time off before starting college? Some students may choose to take a "pause" before college to find what truly motivates and inspires them. Our new Gap Year Experience is designed for students to learn problem-solving skills through a project-based approach, while earning a certificate or college credit—virtually. Are you wondering what an Adelphi class would be like? Now you can satisfy your intellectual curiosity in 30 minutes. This summer, members of the Adelphi community played disease detective, paid a virtual visit to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, explored the films of Alfred Hitchcock and more in our faculty-hosted, half-hour micro classes. Watch recordings of past classes and see what's coming up.

Our annual event series allows high school students to explore their passion as they get a taste for college life at Adelphi. We create a fun and engaging environment where students can develop relationships with our expert faculty, as well as gain valuable on-the-job insights from our esteemed keynote speakers and panelists. This year’s events will be held virtually. Space is limited.
