The text contains 125 color and black-and-white illustrations. Following the text of most chapters are various color illustrations (421 in all), each with a brief history and commentary. With an index, a "select bibliography" (including other exhibition catalogues), notes on authors, and lists of photo credits, Morris-related items in the Victoria and Albert Museum, and lenders to the exhibition.

According to William and Sylvia Peterson (The Kelmscott Chaucer, a Census), this copy in a binding by Lilian Barton-Wilson was sold by Arthur Fairfax Murray at this sale, purchased by Dutton, sold to Chaucer Head Book Shop, sold to John Saks, sold at Christie in 1983 to Sir Paul Getty and then sold by Sir Paul Getty (via Maggs) to the University Texas for $220,000 in 1983. Front cover almost detached. Else near fine.
