Winter Concert Update

Due to the large numbers of students enrolled in Music and Choir this year, along with the desire to have receptions post-performance, The Fine Arts Department, in conjunction with NPX administration, have decided to change the date of the High School and Honors Choir Winter Concert to Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at Calvary North Church Call time for ALL students is 5:00pm at the church.  This concert will be for 9th and 10th grade Choir, as well as the Middle School & Honors Choirs. The team felt splitting the concerts was in the best interest of students, their families, and the teachers tasked to supervise.

The Middle School Winter Concert will still take place on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at Calvary North Church.
Gladiator Athletics

Let’s hear it for our boys varsity cross country team. On Friday they competed in the Nike Desert Twilight Cross Country Festival against teams for 7 different states.

Jordan Black, Ariel Antonini, Rocco Berbetti, Richie Johnston and Sammy Johnston all ran an incredible race. They competed in the elite division and all ran faster than they have ever run. Sammy Johnston now sits as the 4 th fastest sophomore in the state of AZ. He also ranks as the 3 rd fastest athlete in our division. A very special shout out also goes to Jordan Black. Jordan just put himself into the record books by being the 8 th Arizona High School athlete to break 15 minutes in the 5k. Jordan placed 4 th in the race. His time puts him as the 6 th fastest XC athlete of all time in the state of Arizona. Also, as of now, he is ranked as the 11 th fastest athlete in the country for this season. Great job Jordan!!!

Seniors and Parents,

Our FAFSA Workshop is quickly approaching and its time to request your FSA ID at this link https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm . Our goal is to walk each family through the application process yet in order to do so, you will need a FSA ID which could take a few days to process.

Other critical documentation needed for the completion of our FAFSA Workshop includes:

Student and Parents Social Security Number Your Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen) Student and Parents 2018 federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned. (Note: You may be able to transfer your federal tax return information into your FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.) Student and Parents Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable) Students and Parents Records of untaxed income (if applicable) Student and Parents FSA ID to sign electronically.

We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday, October 2nd from 6 - 8pm for this next important step in your son/daughters college application process. FAFSA completion is strongly recommended for every student, regardless of your income bracket, and is required before colleges / universities can determine student awards and federal loans.

LOVE AND LOGIC TIPS
Neutralizing Arguing
Like dominoes toppling over, arguing leads to more arguing which leads to more arguing. In the end, what is left are limits that have been manipulated around, hurt feelings, resentment, or the loss of opportunity to learn from one’s mistakes. Reasoning with a child can also lead us into this trap. Reasoning with an angry person is like fighting a fire with gasoline. Next time that limit setting leads to an argument try an empathetic response like, “I know. I bet that feels terrible,” or, “And what did I say?”
