Census Deadline Approaching
If you haven’t completed the 2020 Census, a Census worker may be visiting your home soon. Approximately 65% of Coral Gables households have responded to the Census but several neighborhoods are averaging below a 50% response rate. We need your help. Coral Gables may lose millions of dollars in funding if our residents don’t complete the Census. The deadline to apply is September 30th. Please complete your questionnaire online – it's quick!

Hurricane Preparations
Although Hurricane Isaias spared us, the threat was a reminder that we are in the middle of Hurricane Season. Residents who require evacuation assistance during a Hurricane Warning should register now for the Emergency & Evacuation Assistance Program (EEAP) managed by Miami-Dade County. This program is for individuals with functional and access needs who live alone or with families who cannot evacuate on their own, due to medical or specialized transportation needs; are homebound or bedridden, unable to walk and do not have transportation options; are on life-sustaining medical equipment that require electricity, or require assistance with daily living activities.
City's Tree Removal Process
The City takes tremendous pride in maintaining its iconic and lush tree canopy and urban forest. However, sometimes, we must remove and replace trees in bad health or that pose a danger. For more information on the City’s tree removal process, watch the video below.

The Benefits of Owning a Historic Home in Coral Gables
The City of Coral Gables is widely known for the preservation of its historic landmarks. In 1973, the City became the first in Miami-Dade County to enact a Historic Preservation Ordinance, which formally addressed the community’s interest in preserving its historic resources. The goal of this ordinance is the preservation of structures, sites, objects, and districts within Coral Gables that reflect architectural, historical, and/or cultural significance. To date, many homes in Coral Gables have been designated as historic landmarks or included in local historic districts and listed on the Coral Gables Register of Historic Places. Owners of these historic homes can apply for ad valorem tax incentives in conjunction with qualifying restoration work performed on their properties.
