State of Arkansas
Today, Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced that 784 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the last 24 hours in the state. This brings the state's cumulative cases to 45.391.
Of the 45,381 cases, 6,891 are considered active with 88 in nursing homes, 393 in correctional facilities and 6,410 in the community.
When it came to today's cases, 10 were detected in correctional facilities and 774 were detected in the community at large. Counties with the highest number of new cases today included Pulaski County with 149 additional cases and Garland County with 25 new cases.
Hutchinson said that 5,840 people were tested for the virus in the last 24 hours. That brings the total test number for August to 18,001. The state's cumulative positive rate is 8.5 percent.
Hospitalizations increased by 13 since yesterday, bringing the total currently hospitalized to 526. Of those hospitalized, 101 are on ventilators.
Today, there were 15 more deaths in the state reported by Hutchinson, bringing the total to 490.
During the briefing, Hutchinson said that some unemployment claims are on hold as being potentially fraudulent. Hutchinson warned of fraudulent mailers in regard to unemployment claims that were never made by the recipient, himself being a target of one. You can read about that

Saline & Garland Counties
As of 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, 922 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Saline County. Of those, 751 have recovered and 165 of the total cases are considered active. The number of deaths has increased by one, making the number for Saline County six.
Garland County currently has 879 cumulative cases of COVID-19. So far, 674 people are considered recovered and 197 cases are considered active. The total number of deaths remains at eight.
