SEPTEMBER 2020
Coming together as a community is always a deeply moving experience. Whether it's working with local food banks to keep families together, joining with corporate and retail partners to increase our impact, or witnessing the incredible creativity of supporters who organize third-party events, we're constantly energized and grateful to share this important lifesaving and life-enriching journey. Thank you for taking it with us!
Be An Animal Advocate
Join us for our new virtual program, Animal Advocates! Following the online success of Critter Camp this summer, this virtual program offers animal-loving youth  volunteer opportunities and creates animal enrichment safely during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Teens ages 12- 5, and preteens ages 8-11 will learn how they can make a difference for animals in our community through age-appropriate humane education lessons. Topics include animal welfare and pet responsibility, with a blend of DIY service-learning projects that can be completed at home. Each two-week sessions meets twice weekly. Sign your student up today!
Subaru Loves Pets
We're so glad Subaru Loves Pets! Thanks to a grant from the ASPCA, Valley Humane Society is partnering with Subaru Livermore for the Subaru Loves Pets adoption campaign, running October 1-12. Bring a wonderful dog or cat into your home and experience the unconditional love that a furry friend can offer. Adoptions are by appointment only, so find your favorite and apply online, and review our safe adoption guidelines.
Feeding Pets and People
Local pets and their guardians need your help to remain together right now. Through our partnership with Alameda County Food Bank and Open Heart Kitchen, we have been able to provide pet food in conjunction with meal and grocery distribution to families in need in our community. With demand up 400%, our AniMeals pet food pantry needs your help to continue serving local pets and people. Please donate today to help pets stay in their loving homes and out of shelters.

"People Are Animals Too, Darnit!"
Our Executive Director, Melanie Sadek, was a guest on the podcast "People Are Animals Too, Darnit!" to discuss PR and branding for shelters. Fun fact: her twin sister Mandy runs the podcast! Listen here.
