A-OK Mentoring: Volunteers Needed!
A-OK volunteers serve as mentors and tutors
for preschool and elementary school children and middle school youth
in Howard County schools and in community programs. Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and be able to work during weekday daytime hours.

Bow Only - 11/7/2019, 12/5/2019, & 1/14/2020
The Howard County Department of Recreation & Parks has announced its fall/winter schedule for managing the deer population through bow and shotgun managed hunts. Each park will be closed on its scheduled days for all other uses from dawn until noon during the managed hunt operations. The managed hunt program gives specially-screened, approved hunters daytime access to various parks with a combination of archery equipment or shotguns. For more information, click HERE.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a charity that builds beds for kids who don't have their own. If your child or a child you know is sleeping on the floor, a sofa, an air mattress, or with other siblings or parents, you can request a bed by visiting www.shpbeds.org/request-bed or emailing md-howardco@shpbeds.org. SHP delivers the bunks/single beds along with new mattresses, pillows, sheets, and comforters.

We'd like to thank our elected officials for attending and presenting remarks and resolutions, including Congressman John Sarbanes, Delegate Jen Terrasa, County Executive Calvin Ball, and Councilman Opel Jones. Many thanks to CA's Open Space Special Events team members who set up the entire festival year-in and year-out.

The Oakland Mills Board is accepting donation requests from non-profit 501(C)3 organizations. The board annually sets aside funds in the budget for donations to non-profit organizations. Those seeking a donation should submit the donation request and required information
no later than October 15, 2019. The Board will review requests at an early November, 2019 Oakland Mills Board meeting. If you have any questions please email Sandy Cederbaum, Village Manager at
