Village of Grafton 2020 Construction Update - 7/30/2020
1st Avenue Reconstruction –The Village will be reconstructing the roadway of 1st Avenue (both northbound and southbound) from Highland Drive to Washington Street. The road is closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. The BIKE LANE is also closed, and bicycle traffic should utilize the downtown loop of the Interurban Trail instead. The contractor began work in June and completion is required by late August. Bio-swales are being installed in the median to help filter out contaminants in storm water before the water further enters the storm system piping and makes its way into local waterways. Final roadway grading is in progress and asphalt paving is scheduled for later this week.
17th Avenue Lift Station – The Village is replacing the sanitary sewage lift station on 17th Avenue near Nancy Lynn Court. The contractor began work in June with updates to the existing sewer main. This project is anticipated to take several months to complete. The new lift station has been set into place and currently all the mechanicals are being installed.
WWTP New Headworks Facility – The Village is constructing a new facility along the back of the Wastewater Treatment Plant property, adjacent to Falls Road. The headworks facility separates out the large particles before sending the liquids for further treatment, and will replace a portion of the old original 1970’s plant. Excavation and shoring for the new building continues, as well as construction of some of the new above ground facilities and a new connection for water service.
Blue Stem Residential Subdivision – Phase 2 includes the extension of Cheyenne Avenue to the south property line and all development to the west of Cheyenne Avenue. Underground utilities and roadway work are complete. WE is currently installing electric and gas mains throughout the development. Sidewalk work and final site grading will be completed once WE’s work is complete.
River Bend Meadows Residential Subdivision - Phase 1 extends the existing River Bend Road to the east to Port Washington Road. Underground utilities and roadway work are complete, sidewalks are under construction this week.
Shady Hollow Residential Subdivision - Underground utilities and roadwork for Phase 3 of this development are complete. Final site grading should be occurring soon.
