Artist Live Demos
For those artists who can attend this year's event, we still have room to accommodate more public art demosat this year's festival (all demos will be outdoors under tents with social distancing in place). It's a great way to engage with the public, meet new people and share your latest work.

Due to COVID-19 and high-season limitations, AFC does not have a specific preferred hotel this year. We recommend researching options online (Expedia, Travelocity, AirBnB, Hotels.com, etc.).

Jackson African Safaris First partnered with AFC in 2019 and organizing a unique conservation-themed safari for artists, to eastern Africa. 2020 safari has been postponed until Spring 2021. A few spaces remain available.

10 Sept, 2020
To all AFC Members and Exhibiting Artists,
With just three weeks until the 10 th annual AFC Festival kick-off at VanDusen Botanical Garden, I am writing with an important update.
First, apologies for the reduced communications in the past several weeks. We have been facing a moving goal-post for many weeks this summer, forcing several large changes of plans to meet the evolving requirements of our venue and local health and safety regulations. It has also meant we have had to remain low-key on communications around the event, as we await formal approval from the regional health authorities to know that: 1) we have permission to proceed, and 2) what activities are approved as safe.
Yesterday afternoon, we received that approval! We are very confident that we have taken all reasonable measures necessary to ensure a safe event for all and are now able to announce and promote the festival.
With sincere gratitude to everyone for your participation, understanding and commitment.
Yours in conservation and art,
Jeff

Online Festival Activities
|
In response to COVID-19, we are accelerating plans for several new online/virtual activities including:
- Augmenting our existing Virtual Exhibit
- Producing 360 VR nature art walk exhibits for online interaction
- Facebook Live streamed events including artist demos, presentations, films and performances.
- Compiling a downloadable festival soundtrack featuring a selection of some of the Festival’s long-time musical performers.
We are calling on AFC Members who are not able to attend the event in Vancouver, to volunteer to give a Facebook Live presentation, remotely from your studio (October 1-4).

Canada’s border remains closed to USA and international visitors except for essential travel and anyone granted entry must quarantine for 14 days. As a result, we are not expecting many (or any) artists or visitors from outside Canada and primarily from the immediate region only.
IMPORTANT: With the exception of confirmed volunteers or artists confirmed as offering demos, all attendees (artists and guests) must purchase tickets in advance from the VanDusen Botanical Garden website. Admissions are reserved by time-slot and cannot be purchased at the door. We apologize for this inconvenience.
