Luncheon with FBI Task Force
DCWC's past luncheon was another full house event. The special guest was Carol Mosher, a detective on LAPD's FBI Task Force, who's annual address to our organization included a one hour comprehensive overview of:
  • the recent activity of organized South American (namely, Colombians and Chileans) criminals,
  • the nature of criminal activity threatening retailers in the US, dangers of traveling with jewelry and surveillance techniques to protect ourselves,
  • proper screening of employees,
  • and active shooter tips.
Nearly two decades ago, David Marcus was on the forefront of pushing local legislators to request federal authorities for assistance to local enforcement in pursuit of organized criminals.  Through this effort, the FBI installed their unit locally, reinforcing the LAPD and expanding protection to jewelers.
The nature of our business attracts criminals and we must always be extremely vigilant.  DCWC is your indispensable resource in looking out for your safety and bringing criminals to justice.
What to do in case of an Emergency?
Last week IJC Building conducted their annual Fire Drill.
Mr. Stormy Bruckner, safety compliance /procedures consultant who led this drill shared safety tips from how to prepare yourself for an Earthquake to what to do in case of an active shooter on site.

With jewelry store thefts increasing in recent years, your entire staff needs to be extra prepared to prevent crimes that can easily go unnoticed.

The loss prevention experts at Jewelers Mutual Insurance Group recommend 5 things to keep in mind as you look to close out a successful year .
