Growing in faith, serving with love
Order for Worship - 9th Sunday after Pentecost
August 2, 2020
GATHER & PRAISE
Come to the abundant fountain of God’s love to worship. Come, and receive God’s abundant blessings. Come, and be transformed by God’s abundant presence. Come, and be filled with wisdom and courage to know and follow Christ. Come, and worship the Lord!   Lyrics for the hymn are provided in the description on the YouTube page.
CONFESS
Family, God’s Spirit gives us a constant source of mercy, comfort, and reconciliation. With confidence in the forgiveness that follows, let us confess to God where we have fallen short.

Pray aloud in unison with others who are gathered, both in body and spirit.
Too often, Lord, we rely on our own strength, our own smarts, and our own resources to tackle life’s challenges. Too often, Lord, we lose hope when faced with what we deem impossible to achieve. Too often, Lord, we do not trust in you to provide what we need to face the day and follow your Son.

Forgive us, Lord, when we don’t trust you. Forgive us, Lord, when we operate out of scarcity instead of lean into your abundance. Forgive us, Lord, when our own fears lead us to hoard what you have given us. Fill us with the abundance of your love, and strengthen us for the journey of faith and discipleship.

RECEIVE PEACE
Family, receive this Good News. God’s love is given as abundantly as it is freely. In that love is a path to reconcile, be filled with peace, and a means to follow Christ at every moment. Be at peace with God and one another, for in Christ, we are all forgiven.
