3rd DISTRICT ARTS RELIEF FUND DISTRIBUTES $500,000
Orange County Supervisor Donald P. Wagner announced that $500,000 in grants is being allocated from the Third District COVID-19 Arts Relief Program. The program awarded grants to arts-related businesses and nonprofits suffering financial hardship due to COVID-19. "The arts are vital to maintaining a vibrant community. It is an honor to help people working to overcome the impact of COVID-19," said Supervisor Wagner. "Arts organizations are particularly vulnerable because live performances require social gathering, which is not possible under a lockdown. We hope the grants help these cultural resources stay in business for our County's good. I look forward to their reopening and to them continuing to enrich our lives, the lives of our children, and our communities." Financial aid will go through the OC Arts and Culture Resilience Fund, a COVID-19 relief fund for artists and arts organizations launched by Arts Orange County. Arts Orange County is the County of Orange's official nonprofit arts agency, supported by the Orange County Community Foundation, and managed by Charitable Ventures. Grants have been awarded to organizations and companies located in the Third District and its unincorporated areas.
$30,000 IN ASSISTANCE TO ARTISTS DISTRIBUTED BY OC ARTS AND CULTURE RESILIENCE FUND
The OC Arts and Culture Resilience Fund announced that it has awarded a first round of relief totaling $30,000 to individual Orange County artists. The Fund was launched last month by Orange County's nonprofit arts council, Arts Orange County (ArtsOC), in partnership with Charitable Ventures and the Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF) to support creative artists and local nonprofit arts and culture organizations as they face significant challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Support for the artist assistance grants came from the generosity of the Larry and Helen Hoag Foundation and other contributors to the OC Arts and Culture Resilience Fund.
"The artists receiving this assistance range from actors and singers to musicians and arts educators, painters and craftspeople, dancers and directors, and reside in every area of the county," said Richard Stein, president and CEO of ArtsOC. "They have experienced the cancellation of the art festivals, concerts and theatrical productions where they earn their livelihoods and the closure of the schools and after-school programs where they teach. It is our sincere hope that the assistance we provide will provide a portion of what they need until the arts venues can reopen safely and they can resume work."
The OC Arts and Culture Resilience Fund continues to accept donations to enable it to meet the needs of more individual artists and the local arts organizations that hire them. Community members are encouraged to donate here

Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 and Keep Orange County Open for Business
Orange County Business Council has written to the Orange County Congressional Delegation, urging them to advocate for the inclusion of support for nonprofit arts organizations in new and renewed federal assistance policies. "The region's arts organizations are suffering substantial financial losses. Even as they innovate to find new ways to contribute to the community from a distance, nonprofits may not be able to continue their mission and support their artists without federal assistance," the letter from OCBC's new Senior Vice President, Government Affairs & Advocacy says.  Read the full letter here.
