The Pleasant Hill Education Commission meets monthly to advocate for quality public education in Pleasant Hill. Here are some opportunities for parents and students that may be of interest:
Thinkers & Tinkers - Saturday, Sept. 14 - 11 am. - 3 p.m.
The Tinkers & Thinkers Innovation Faire is a not-to-miss experience for those inquisitive minds with curiosity about all things Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) All ages are invited to engage with a variety of "hands-on" make-and-take activities and marvel at the innovations and displays presented by local organizations, educators and entrepreneurs. DId we mention that the event is free?
Paying for college

The following events are being held at College Park High School:

Financial Aid - 6:30 - 8 p.m. Sept. 16 in the Multi-use Room. This evening will broadly cover financial aid for college. Topics will include need based versus merit based financial aid, FAFSA, grants vs. loans, the California Promise Grants, etc.

Cash for College - 6:30-8 p.m. Oct 8 in the Library Computer Lab. Additional details will be posted at https://cphs.mdusd.org/collegeandcareer
Community Service Day school projects
Community Service Day is Saturday, Sept. 28, and nearly every school in Pleasant Hill is sponsoring a project. Projects start at 9 a.m.; most will be done before noon. Why not give 3 hours to help your favorite school shine?

President's Volunteer Service Awards

Young people who volunteer may be eligible for the President's Volunteer Service Awards. These annual awards are presented at a City Council meeting. For an overview of these awards, click here.

Break a Sweat for Education
Join this fun run on October 5 benefiting MDUSD Education Foundation and Yours Humanly. Proceeds support Art and STEM opportunities for all MDUSD students. Learn more by clicking here .
Mark your calendars! MDUSD College Fair

The annual College Fair for MDUSD students takes place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. October 24 at Ygnacio Valley High School. Past fairs have drawn more than 100 College Admissions representatives to answer questions about their schools. Students should bring their student ID.
