STUDENT ART WORK ON DISPLAY
SMCC had artwork from five high school students selected to be in the Lorain County Regional Scholastic Art exhibition. Will Cundiff, 11th grade, received a Silver Award while Jenna Faber, 12th grade, Kayli Collins, 11th grade, Aubrey Heyman, 11th grade, and Mazzara Lynch, 11th grade, received Honorable Mention awards.

Their artwork will be on display, along with other students, at the Stocker Center gallery on the campus of Lorain County Community College in Elyria from Jan. 15 to Feb. 22. The gallery is open to the public Mon. - Fri. 10:30-2:30; Tues., Wed., and Thurs. evenings 4:00-6:30 and Sundays 1-5

PRESCHOOL-8TH GRADE YEARBOOK ORDERS
The Preschool-8th Grade yearbook is now available to order. Go to ybpay.com and use Yearbook ID Code #14379122. The cost is $25 and payment and orders are online only. The deadline is Friday, March 11, 2022.

EXTENDED DAY MONITOR POSITION
SCCS is looking to fill a Monday through Friday, 2pm-6pm, Extended Day Monitor position. The candidate would be responsible for Preschool through 5th grade students during the school year. Childcare background is preferred but not required.  Interested candidates should email a letter of interest stating qualifications, a current resume, and a list of at least three professional references to [email protected] no later than Friday, February 18th, 2022.

The Golden Apple is an award given by the Diocese of Toledo that goes to teachers who have shown achievement and are committed to Catholic education. To nominate a teacher from SCCS, click here for the form to submit along with a letter or recommendation to either Mr. Wikel or Mrs. MacMurray. Nominations are due by Friday, February 11, 2022.

HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY CONCERT CHOIR PERFORMANCE
On Sunday, January 30th there will be a free performance from the Heidelberg University Concert Choir at 3:00pm at St. Mary’s Church.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS NEEDED - NEW TEMPORARY LICENSE AVAILABLE
Due to the shortage of substitute teachers during the pandemic, the state of Ohio has established a new, temporary substitute license. You do not need a bachelor's degree to qualify, only a high school diploma. The license expires on June 30, 2022 and is non-renewable.

If you would like to join our Panther substitute team this year, please email a letter of interest with your education and employment history to Lois Walsh at [email protected]. We will then be in touch to explain the process of obtaining this temporary license.

JANUARY MARCO’S PIZZA NIGHT
Tonight, January 20th is the first Marco's Pizza Night of 2022! Marco's will donate 15% of the sales from the night for phone orders and 20% of the online orders to SCCS. Proceeds for our January Marco's Pizza night will go to the 8th grade class trip. The classroom, Preschool through 5, that has the most orders will get a pizza party, so be sure to mention your teacher's name when ordering over the phone or click on your teacher’s name when ordering online. The Class of 2025 is having a fundraiser at Chipotle on Saturday, January 22nd from 4:00pm-8:00pm.

CALENDAR CHANGE FOR PRESCHOOL
There will be no school for Preschool on Thursday, February 17th due to parent/ teacher conferences. More information regarding conferences will be coming out from the classroom teacher.

FIRST COMMUNION RETREAT
The mandatory First Communion Retreat is Scheduled for Sunday, January 23rd 12:00pm-2:00pm at St. Mary’s Church. A parent must attend with the First Communion candidate. SCCS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS APPLICATIONS
All SCCS students in grades 8th through 12th are encouraged to fill out and submit applications to earn scholarships through the SCCS Education Foundation for the 2022-2023 school year. There are over $75,000 worth of scholarships available with a deadline of February 11th, 2022, to apply. Submit your applications in one of 3 ways:
