GREAT TO BE BACK: RETURN OF TRANSPLANT FAMILIES

Welcome Back!
What a blessing it has been to reopen to our Restoring Hope family of guests the past couple months after temporarily shutting our doors during Wisconsin's Safer at Home mandate for COVID-19. Since 2013, transplant families have been the heartbeat of this great house. Together, we have helped to create one of the finest support systems for families in search of a second chance at life through the miracle of transplantation in the entire country so you have been missed. 
 
During these unprecedented times, it has been such a relief to see our recent families rally together in cooperation to make this a safe and comfortable environment for all who pass through our doors.
We have been following the business reopening requirements as outlined by Public Health Madison & Dane Country as well as the guidance from the CDC, other healing homes and have updated our best practices. This includes comprehensive cleaning protocols, respectful distancing, and a variety of other precautionary measures.   We are grateful for your loyalty and appreciate your support and cooperation as we implement these additional safety measures to ensure the safety of this house and our guests.   
 
We honestly didn't know what to expect when we reopened.  Your collective response has filled our hearts with so much joy after all we have been through the past few months.  It's great to have you back! 
With Gratitude to UW Hospital Staff
Visits to the hospital to support our families through their transplant journey have become a big part of what we do and we truly miss those opportunities during the pandemic. We always love receiving great pics like these as we do our best to let transplant recipients know that they are still very much loved and supported despite all these life changes.   
 
We would also like to take the opportunity to thank the entire hospital staff for all they have done each and every day so that these daily miracles can continue to happen.  Not a day goes by around here that we don't hear kind words and stories about how a member of the staff went above and beyond to make a challenging situation so much better for all involved.  Please know how much your sacrifices, compassion and talents mean to everyone who passes through these doors!  We appreciate you!
Moving To Construction: Back To The Future
Preserving History & Saving A Landmark
We have been extremely busy moving forward with our renovation and expansion plans this year and have used much of the pandemic time to focus our efforts on those exciting developments following a generous $150,000 donation that was made to retire the remainder of our mortgage earlier this year.   
 
Our house was built in the 1890's by the Pierstorff family (pictured above) and later purchased by this young ladies grandparents below in the late 1920's or early 1930's.  As a Middleton Landmark this house is regarded as one of the most iconic homes in all of Middleton.  Understanding and preserving that history and maintaining the charm and character of this 130 year old gem is incredibly important to us and our community.  We have worked very hard to partner with community leaders to understand the history and those who came before us in order to preserve this special place.  This is a beloved house to so many so it was a blessing recently to receive the feedback and support of those who are entrusted with maintaining historic sites like this as they approved our building plans.  There's a lot of work yet ahead, but we are hoping to begin construction in October to help ensure that Restoring Hope Transplant House remains a fixture here in downtown Middleton.  We hope the families you see here that called this place home before us would be proud of our collective efforts to save what they have created.  These are exciting times!
The Construction Phase: You Can Help!
There have been countless meetings, phone calls, emails and video conferences this year in order to continue moving forward with construction through COVID-19.  We are extremely grateful to have such a dedicated group of committee members as well as our banker, architects and builders who have always found the time and determination to get through all the obstacles.  This global pandemic has hit virtually every household in the world hard and we understand that there are great challenges for everyone yet we believe in our cause and hope that you will join us in seeing this project through.   
 
We need your helpful connections and resources, your leads on donated supplies and materials and your sources of funding for what is a major project that will help to give our area and the state of Wisconsin one of the finest transplant support facilities in the United States.  Like our guests have taken ownership of this house over the years, we need you now more than ever to jump on this ship and help in any way you can to help leave this lasting legacy for the transplant community.

Annual Cap City 5k In Honor Of Our Transplant Families
The Capital City Transplant 5k is one of our favorite annual events on the transplant community calendar and while it was very sad to miss seeing so many of our good friends at the event recently, it was still fun to participate in the virtual event with a little family cheering section at the start.  We hope to see everyone back at it again next year!

Your Support Gets Us Through This Challenging Year!
In a year where basically every fundraiser, speaking engagement, conference and public gathering has been cancelled, our heartfelt thanks go out to so many of our loyal Lions Clubs and other non-profit givers who continue to find ways to support this house and our transplant families. Quite simply, we would not have been able to get through the many hardships of this pandemic without you.  We look forward to the day when we can gather again.  Our meetings always fill us with optimism and excitement and have been so helpful when it comes to construction contacts and funding.  You are the foundation for which this house is built and when we needed you the most, you were there!   
PLEASE HELP IF YOU ARE ABLE
Times are tough for us all and we understand everyone has had to make sacrifices during this pandemic.  We are blessed to have been able to survive as a non-profit and stay operational but we have taken a major hit overall in operational funding and donations this year
and would be forever grateful for your kindness and generosity as we scratch and claw each month to make up for those significant losses. 
 
Others have also been able to help with company matching donations, becoming a monthly donor, grants they are connected with that might apply to RHTH, foundations that would have their hearts touched by our cause, the gift of your talents from promotional, fundraising, construction and handy work that will help with our regular operations and our future construction endeavors.  This house takes a village and we could use your help!
