Curbside Leaf Collection Program
Beginning on Monday, October 19th we will begin our annual Leaf Collection Program. The Township is broken up into three(3) Sectors for this service; this year we will begin in Sector two(2). Click here to find your sector. We ask residents to place materials out for collection utilizing the guidelines below.
 
Acceptable Materials and Guidelines for Curbside Placement:
  • All materials must be placed along the curb line, not in the street, and kept 10 feet from all storm drains.
  • Only leaves, grass, and plant vegetation may be combined in a pile together.
  • All materials should be placed loosely along the curb (no bags, paper or plastic).
  • Do not place brush in leaf piles.
 
Unacceptable Materials:
  • Brush, dirt, logs, tree parts, tree stumps, & tree trunks.

-Resolution 109-20: Authorizing extension of effective date from July 1, 2020 to Oct 1, 2020
-Resolution 194-19: Urging NJ to ban single-use plastic bags in retail

Resolution 194-19
WHEREAS, on average, one person uses 500 single-use plastic bags per year, 4 billion single-use plastic bags are used annually in New Jersey, and 102 billion are used nationwide; and
WHEREAS, it is beyond dispute that the use of single-use, plastic carryout bags has a severe and negative environmental impact on the local and global environment as a result of the greenhouse gas emissions emitted to produce such bags, the land-based and ocean-based pollution created, the hazards posed to wildlife, the hazards posed to sources of water for humans, and the negative impact on the ecosystem and food chain as a whole; and
WHEREAS, 5% or fewer single-use plastic carryout bags are actually recycled; and
WHEREAS, taxpayers in all New Jersey municipalities, including the Township of Morris, currently bear the costs associated with the negative effects of single-use plastic carryout bags on the solid waste stream, drainage, litter, and the negative consequences of the foregoing environmental impacts; and
WHEREAS, taxpayers in all New Jersey municipalities, including the Township of Morris, currently bear the costs associated with improper placement of plastic bags in recycling containers resulting in increase costs for contaminated recycling;...

Morris Twp. Police Dept. has a "Medication Return Box" to dispose of all your expired, unwanted, or unused over-the-counter and prescription medications. Approved Items:

Trading Card Contest

Rules and Information are as follows:
  • The contest will run from October 1st, 2020 through March 31st, 2021
  • You must be 14 years of age or younger
  • You must be a resident of Morris Township or Morristown
  • You must register here (complete registration any time during the contest period)
  • Collect as many trading cards as you can and be entered in to win a Free Bicycle!

How will it work? Simply ask any officer if they have their trading card on them. Then that officer must sign and date the card for it to be a valid collection. We will feature officers throughout the weeks and host meet and greets.
April 2021, we will meet with all contestants to see how many cards they have collected. The person with the most amount of cards – WINS A FREE BICYCLE! If there is a tie, then we will enter all names and draw one randomly to select a winner. There will be additional prizes as well for contestants.
Also, we will mail one card to every registered contestant with the list of officers so they can follow along with who they have collected and who they still need to collect.

Clean Community Month in October!
Due to Covid- 19, the annually held Clean Community Month in April was rescheduled to October. Clean-ups will be held on Saturdays, beginning October 10th and run through October 31st.

Morris Township civic associations, sports organizations, and individual volunteers are invited to join in this important community event.
