Hello Community!

We find ourselves already into the Fall of 2020 surrounded by innovation, flexibility, and courage. We are inspired by what we see from you, and we join you in your unwavering determination to stay healthy, happy, and connected.

A simple way we understand our campus and its purpose is the phrase, “Spaces, Places and Faces”. It is at the intersection of those three simple words where the powerful collective impact of our campus occurs.

We facilitate this meaningful impact by supporting our three program areas: 1) Nonprofit Sustainability, 2) Campus Connection, and 3) Community Resources and Leadership. I invite you to see how we define that work.

Now more than ever, our tenant partners and those they serve need tethers to community and hope. We are proud to be a part of their cost-saving efforts as we continue to support their operations, provide virtual learning opportunities, and bolster vital assistance programs for those in need.

We miss you and we are craving real social connections. Please let us know how you’re doing and what’s on your mind. We’d love to hear from you! And know that you’re going to be hearing more from us as we navigate these unchartered waters together… as a family, as a community. We are truly all in this together!

State of the Agencies
Since March, we have been in awe of our tenant partner agencies. In a time when adaptation has become a necessity, we have seen them embrace remote offices, new program technologies like telehealth, and advanced health protection measures, so that they could continue serving their clients.

When we asked them about their changing office space needs, we heard that their space needs would continue, in some cases expanding in response to the growing human services needs in our community.

Collaborating in Services
In September, CenterPlace Health expanded its offices and its footprint on our campus. In addition to obstetrics, pediatric primary care and dental, they will be offering behavioral health services in partnership with another campus partner, First Step of Sarasota.

At the same time, First Step has completed a merger with Coastal Behavioral Healthcare, touting "A more collaborative approach to solving issues related to addiction disorders and behavioral health care."
Marian Haupt
Welcome to New Staff!
This summer, we welcomed new Maintenance Assistant, Marian Haupt. With Marian on board, we have a greater capacity to maintain our buildings and grounds, as we implement our plans to go green through our partnership with the Project for Green Places.
Project for Green Places
We couldn't be more excited about getting involved in this project that so closely aligns with our work and mission!

Partners for Green Places helps nonprofits update energy inefficiencies, which turns into 1) Overhead Savings and 2) A Greener Footprint.

We estimate over $10,000 in annual cost savings due to this project. Watch our short video to learn more!

We want to thank the project's funders:
  • Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation
  • Gulf Coast Community Foundation
  • Community Foundation of Sarasota County
  • The Funders Network
  • Partners for Places
  • Urban Sustainability Directors Network

A FOCUS ON ONE OF OUR PARTNERS

Suncoast Partnership to End Homelessness convenes the Continuum of Care for homelessness programs in our region. During the pandemic, the team has kept their network informed through daily emails and weekly calls for up-to-the-minute information and resources. Their leadership during this time truly strengthens our community.
GlasserPassports for Epilepsy Services
GlasserPassports
We are holding our GlasserPassports program this month, giving our agencies a chance to meet and learn about each other. This time, we are going virtual!

On October 22, Epilepsy Services of Southwest Florida will be presenting information about their services with an eye on how those services might be useful to the other programs and case managers on our campus. Any staff with an agency on our campus is invited - email Sarah Glendening for information.
Tracy Vanderneck
Fundraiser Brainstorms
Earlier this summer, we began meeting with agencies to discuss the challenges of rethinking our in-person fundraisers. Tracy Vanderneck, MSM, CFRE, President of Phil-Com, led the discussions, introducing ideas and technology options that could be of use.

Andrea Lane
View from the Front Desk
Receptionist and Administrative Assistant, Andrea Lane, has a whole new point of view from her front desk in Building J-1.

To allow maximum interaction with minimum germ-spreading, we have added plexi-glass to Andrea's front desk.

Andrea invites the change, saying, "This updated space is lovely. It's professional, welcoming and offers a bit more protection during this COVID-19 world we live in."
3. Community Resources and Leadership
Charlene and Christina discuss Season of Sharing
Season of Sharing
Season of Sharing is an emergency funding assistance program that has been in our community for over 20 years, thanks to the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and the Herald Tribune. Glasser/Schoenbaum has been a fiscal agent of these funds since 2018.

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen a 73% increase in funding requests compared to the same period last year (March – July). Our team is working to meet those needs with care and efficiency.
CARES Act Funding by County
With millions of dollars in CARES Act funding available in our community for businesses, nonprofits, and individuals, we have provided a "quick links" page here to find resources for Sarasota, Manatee or DeSoto counties.

211 Adding Crisis Services
Florida's Department of Children and Families has awarded funding for all 211 services in the state to pilot a new Crisis Counseling Program.

This means that our 211 service area will benefit by having crisis services available through 211, with enhanced staffing.
Community Alliance Will Hold Annual Legislative Summit
The Community Alliance serves as the collective voice of Sarasota County's network for human and social services. The Alliance will convene over Zoom on 11/17 to collectively decide on its legislative priorities for the next Florida Legislative Session.

If you would like to stay informed on the activities of the Community Alliance, email Charlene Altenhain (COO, Glasser/Schoenbaum) to request inclusion on their newsletter mailing list.
