FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Mary Persons vs. Jackson High School basketball games scheduled for tonight, January 7, 2022, will be played with no fans in the gymnasium. The decision for this fanless event is based on information received from various sources, including the Monroe County Sheriff's office, that tonight’s game could experience retaliatory violence resulting from the shooting death that occurred at the Forsyth Walmart on Sunday, January 2, 2022.

School administrators have made the decision to cancel all JV games on January 7, 2022 vs. Jackson High School. Since there are no JV games, the varsity girls game vs. Jackson will begin at 5pm, with the boys game to follow. We apologize for any inconvenience that playing these games without fans may cause our players, students, parents, or community.

Fans who purchased tickets through the GoFan app will receive a refund. Refunds will be automatically credited to fans who already purchased a ticket in GoFan. Please allow adequate time for the refund to post to your account.

Tomorrow’s home contest, January 8, 2022, versus Howard, will still be played. The JV games have been canceled. The varsity girls game will begin at 12pm and the boys game will follow at 1:30pm. To ensure safety, patrons attending will need to pass through metal detection devices.
