Greensburg YMCA - 101 S. Maple Ave., Greensburg PA - 724.834.0150
MEMBERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
Dear Greensburg YMCA Member,

It is with a heavy heart that we write this letter. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, we have been forced to close all membership services including our fitness center, wellness offerings (group exercise, personal training), and aquatics (lap swimming, group exercise) at 101 South Maple Avenue, effective Wednesday, September 30, 2020.   This doesn’t mean our Y is going away.

We are pleased to continue offering services for the following:
  • Early Childhood Learning Center
  • Adult Training Facility
  • Before and After School Enrichment (BASE)
  • Gymnastics
  • GYST Swim Team
  • Fall 1 Swim Lessons
  • Sports Programming (both in Greensburg and Unity Township)
  • Senior Group Exercise, Unity Township

How has Covid-19 impacted the Greensburg YMCA?
Since March of 2020, the Greensburg YMCA has experienced a substantial loss in revenue, and government restrictions have lessened our ability to operate at full-capacity. Due to Covid-19, our summer camp closed much earlier, our membership revenue has decreased, and our costs associated with sanitizing the building have increased; these are just a few items that have affected our Y. We have cut costs and laid-off staff, but it still isn’t enough.  YMCA’s typically operate with a profit margin of 2 – 4%; Covid-19 has really affected our bottom line. As such, the membership portion of our Y is not sustainable at this time. While these closures are not permanent, we will take the time to evolve and adapt. We estimate, at a minimum, a six (6) month closure to membership.

What does this mean for you?
Program membership: If you or your child wish to take advantage of member rates for offered programs, you will want to convert your membership to a Program Membership at the rates already established.

Convert your membership: We humbly ask, if you are able, to continue to support our Y by converting your membership to a Community, Sustaining or Legacy Membership detailed HERE and below.

We will be reaching out to you in the coming weeks to discuss your options. If you are unable to continue to support our Y, we understand and are prepared to terminate your membership at your request, effective September 30, 2020. If you pay using annual dues and wish to have a refund, please let us know and we will process your request in a timely fashion. If you would like to contact us, please email Karen Tehovnik at k.tehovnik@gbgymca.org or call 724-834-0150 ext. 121.

Preserving the Legacy of the Y
The Greensburg YMCA has been the front porch of our community for over 158 years. We will continue to be here for generations to come. We remain committed to the children, youth, families, and seniors in our community and will be taking the coming months to give a careful, prayerful and strategic assessment of our important mission work and how we can best fulfill that mission for the betterment of the communities we serve.

This is where you come in. Please help us to preserve our legacy by making a commitment to continue supporting our Y with a one-time or on-going donation. All donations are tax-deductible. We need you now more than ever!

To establish your donation, review the details below or visit Sustainability Campaign for more information. You may also contact Debby King at d.king@gbgymca.org or 724-834-0150 ext. 114.

We covet your prayers for our Y and community. We remain strongly committed and focused on our mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Thank you for your continued support.

Keith Biskup, Board President
Suzanne Printz, Interim CEO

The Greensburg YMCA BASE program is a positive environment in which children can thrive. The program is set up center based with a variety of stations available for the child to choose from.
