THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICE
REV. SALLY FRITSCHE, REV. FLORENCE CAPLOW
Sunday, September 13 at 10:15 a.m. via Live-stream

Join us LIVE online for our annual water celebration and ingathering, as we celebrate the arrival of a new minister for UUCUC! Our new Associate Minister, Rev. Sally Fritsche, will join Rev Florence, and she will speak on the risks and rewards of moving beyond the surface-level in our communal and spiritual lives. You'll be invited to listen, reflect, and even roll up your sleeves and splash around. Together we will rededicate ourselves to deepening the care and covenant that holds our community together. The UUCUC Choir has prepared a beautiful virtual choir performance.
SUBMITTING JOYS AND SORROWS

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud.
NO ONLINE FELLOWSHIP HOUR THIS WEEK!

Instead of gathering for Fellowship Hour on Zoom after this Sunday's service, you can put your shoes on and head over to the church parking lot for a drive-through water communion and a chance to meet our new associate minister in person. Between 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m., our two ministers will be outside to wave and welcome you from a distance. Bring some water to add to our collective bowl, and help us observe this annual in-gathering tradition. We will even have up to 50 miniature vials of water for anyone who wishes to bring a few drops of this community symbolically home with them.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
Your contributions and support allow us to continue to respond with love and resources to the needs in our congregation and the wider community. We couldn’t do it without your support and we are grateful to each of you.

  • Online Donations
  • Contributions via Give+ Mobile App
  • 50/50 Shared Offering available via Text (your contribution is equally split between UUCUC and the recipient of our monthly social action organization)
  • If you prefer mailing a check, please mail the check to the UUCUC office at 309 West Green Street, Urbana, Illinois 61801. While our building is currently closed to the public, our staff continues to process checks via mail on a weekly basis.

UPCOMING SUNDAY SERVICES
REV. FLORENCE CAPLOW, EMILY MCKOWN
Sunday, September 20 at 10:15 a.m. via Live-stream

One of the missions of UUCUC is to "Find Peace". What does this mean in our actual, everyday lives? After breaking her leg earlier this summer, Emily McKown had an opportunity to consider this question. Emily and Rev. Caplow will each reflect on what "Finding Peace" means to them in this difficult and chaotic time.

UUCUC'S "BUDDY SYSTEM"
Staying connected while
UUCUC facilities are closed

During this time of social distancing, staying in touch and checking in with each other is going to be very important. We hope you will consider being part of our "Buddy System" so we can care for one another.

You can sign up here: https://uucuc.breezechms.com/form/2184f1. Buddies will check in with each other regularly by phone to provide connection, companionship, and connections to help if needed. This is a great way to help each other.
JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org for last Sunday, September 6.

From Sam Beshers and Lynn Wiley: Sorrow for our dog Bingley, who died suddenly a week and a half ago. His presence is still strongly felt and greatly missed.

From Tamara Ducey: For the opportunity to drink morning coffee with my brother Roch who has recovered from a brain aneurysm and will be in CU at least until the Canadian border opens. Thank you all for the love, prayers and positive energy.

From Kay Kummerow: Former UU member Janice Gerdemann passed away on September 4. Janice (& Jim) were UU church members in Champaign Urbana many years ago and long-time friends of the Kummerow family. The link to an online memorial page can be found here

From Deedy Marble: I'm pleased to be resting at home after a stay at Hotel Carle Hospital. I will continue with tests as an out patient. I welcome cards and/or phone calls! (morning calls are best)

From Marie McEnroe: Several residents and staff in the same nursing home as my sister Amanda have tested positive for covid-19. Please keep all the residents, their loved ones, and the staff in your thoughts and prayers.

From Cathy Ritchie: One year ago, on September 6, I returned to Urbana from Dallas, Texas to begin a presumably peaceful retirement. The last 12 months, however, have brought painful physical injury, the deaths of several dear friends, and much soul-searching thanks to Covid-19. But I'm also back at UUCUC after a 20-year absence, in the city where I belong, so I 'm counting many blessings as well.

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service each Sunday. They will be read aloud.
