Shelter Meals - Sept 27-Oct 4
It's time again to help provide food for the 35 women living at the Interfaith Works shelter in Rockville for a week!  We have committed to provide 7 breakfasts and 4 dinners during the week and are looking for your help to make it happen! Sign up to provide food items here.
If you'd like to provide items but are not able to drop them off at the church on the designated day, please email [email protected] to coordinate another way to help.

Nominating Ministry
The Nominating Ministry is in the process of selecting the PNC (Pastor Nominating Committee). It is our recommendation to select a 9 member PNC to ensure the team is inclusive and reflective of the diversity of our membership. We would like to receive suggestions of nominees for the PNC from the congregation for a period of 3 weeks. Ray Mountain has volunteered to receive the suggestions through Sept. 20, and you can email Ray at [email protected]

Book Lovers
Join Book Lovers next Wednesday, September 16 at 1:00 PM on Zoom to discuss The Island of Sea Women, by Lisa See This is the  "One Maryland One Book" for 2020.
The Island of Sea Women takes place on the Korean island of Jeju, home to the haenyeo (female divers) who live in a matrifocal society, where the women are head of the household and the men take care of the home and children. The novel focuses on the long-enduring friendship between Mi-ja and Young-sook; it follows them through marriage and becoming mothers along the backdrop of the Japanese occupation, World War II, and the Korean War and its aftermath leading up to 2008, where an older Young-sook reflects on the past. Strong outside forces will push the bounds of Mi-ja and Young-sook's decades-long friendship.

Contact Phyllis Norrie ([email protected]) for information and Zoom link.

Coming Soon:
Please look for a Legacy Campaign pledge statement in the regular mail, if you still owe a balance on your pledge. While you have until May 2021 to complete the pledge, I'm sending an update now in case you'd like to complete it before the end of the year. If you pledged, but are all paid up, you will not receive a statement to save postage and other resources. If your circumstances have changed and you need to change your pledge, please email Alison Bennett [email protected].

A Message on Pledge Envelopes
It has come to our attention that due to increases in on-line and other means of giving by Saint Mark members, the use of pledge envelopes has declined.   To eliminate the purchase of unused envelopes and reduce expenses, we are asking you to let us know if you wish to continue receiving them. Please let Marilyn Andersen know prior to September 30, via email at [email protected], if you wish to receive envelopes and if so whether you want weekly or monthly sets.  Remember that If you fulfill your pledge with cash donations, you will need to use envelopes if you want to receive the annual tax statement.

Mission Giving for September
If you feel called to give funds to any of our mission partners, please consider joining the Mission Ministry gifts this month:

An update from the Harasty Family
Clara Grace is now one month old! We are so grateful for the prayers, cards, gifts and meals. Those have been a huge help as we adjust to being a family of four. Clara is growing big and strong and Amelia is (mostly) embracing her role as a big sister. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.
With love and gratitude,
The Harasty family

In our prayers this week:
~  Prayers are asked for Sarah Mason, who has had a recent diagnosis of a brain  tumor and is having radiation. Notes and cards to her would be appreciated.
