The theme of this year's 131st Rose Parade is the "Power of Hope".  Only 17 Equestrian Units were invited to participate in the prestigious event.  The Rose Parade garners impressive exposure, with approximately 1 million people attending from all over the world, and individual viewership is estimated at 37 million households. Youth Judging Contest at US Nationals in October 2019

Three teams from Region 10 participated in the youth judging contest activities at the 2019 US Nationals. We are proud of each and every one of these young people, and of the coaches who have worked with them.

MHAHA Team
The MHAHA team of Amanda Lundgren, Faren Bebeau, Haley Maro and Malana Olson proudly represented MHAHA and Region 10 at the 49th Annual Arabian Horse Judging Contest held at the US Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The team left MN on Wednesday, October 23 so that they had all day Thursday to watch classes, practice their judging skills and provide reasons to their coach in preparation for the contest on Friday, October 25.  Their ongoing year-round dedication, efforts at weekly practices and attending various clinics along with the guidance of their Coach, Cindy Schneider proved well for them.   They were named the Reserve Champion Overall AHA Team!   As a team they were also 2nd in Reasons,  2nd in Performance Judging and 4th in Halter Judging.

As Individuals they had success as well and were recognized with the following places.

AHA Overall Individual:
Faren Bebeau  3rd, Haley Maro 8th, Amanda Lundgren 9th
AHA Halter Classes-Individual:
Malana Olson 9th
AHA Performance Classes-Individual:
Faren Bebeau  3rd, Amanda Lundgren 6th, Haley Maro 8th
AHA Reasons-Individuals:
Haley Maro 3rd, Malana Olson 6th, Faren Bebeau 8th

Coach Schneider has been bringing competitive teams to the US Arabian National Youth Judging Contest since 2011.  This is the third AHA Reserve Champion Team she has coached.  Plans are already being made to attend the 2020 50th Annual Arabian Horse Judging Contest!

Minn-I-Kota Team
The Minn-I-Kota AHA , competed at the US Nationals In the JR. AHA Division. Jerson Kopka, Ethan Klaseus, Brody Plass, and Michael Tauer were the team members. It is very seldom that a team is made up of 4 young men. The team placed 5th overall and Jerson Kopka was in the Top 10 in all divisions. These members and their parents will be volunteering their time next summer for the Minn-I-Kota Show to help to repay for the financial support given by the club. Members practiced prior to the contest as well as attending the Fall Fest show. They also arrived early to practice at the Nationals. The Minn-I-Kota AHA has been a longtime supporter of judging teams dating back to the early "80's. Coach for the team is Rae Ann Bartz.

NMAHA Team

The Northern Minnesota Arabian Horse Association (NMAHA) sent a team of 3 to compete in the 2019 U.S. Arabian National Hippology and Judging Contest. The team consisted of Ally Eblen, Cassandra Jibben, and Zoe Eblen all from Minnesota and coached by Lynda and Kaitlyn Frenchick. This was the first team sent by NMAHA and we are beyond pleased with the results. As a team, they were Overall Champion for Hippology and placed 4th Overall in the Judging Contest. They also had a combined eleven places individually for both Hippology and Judging. The girls competed dually for NMAHA and their local 4-H county. The three girls are active in competing at other national trips for judging and hippology, competing in those either before or after the US Arabian National contests. Despite the challenges that exist for coordinating schedules with active members, they were able to practice and gain valuable insight from two judges prior to the US National Contest. Due to the great atmosphere at the US Arabian National Contest there is talk about another trip next year.
