This Week at Christ Church
2020 Vision   Tomorrow morning, following the 10am service, the Vision Team will facilitate a fun conversation about four potential project areas for Christ Church and friends based on the input we got from you at the Annual Meeting. Come grab a cup of coffee and explore with us the exciting possibilities of assisting a refugee family settle in the area, digging into creation care, connecting with neighbors in Silver Spring or Wheaton through Laundry Love, and convening conversations about faith and life here at CC.

Sunday at 6 Come to the 5:00pm Candlelight Communion service on and stay for supper, libations and conversation following the service. All you morning worshipers, drop by at 6:00pm to meet your fellow parishioners and have a slice!  
 
Thanksgiving Service at Christ Church: Thursday at 10AM Please join us for a choral Eucharist as part of your Thanksgiving celebrations!
Annual Community Interfaith Thanksgiving Service: Tuesday, Nov 26th, 7:30pm  at Temple Emanuel,   10101 Connecticut Ave, Kensington, MD. Come give thanks with your neighbors! It's a beautiful and inspiring service.
Children’s Ministry Programs  
This Sunday: Join us in wishing Mary Mutisya, our Nursery caregiver, "Happy Birthday!" as she looks forward to celebrating on Tuesday. At Children's Chapel, Barbara Ferry will help us explore the characteristics of the Reign of Christ. On this last Sunday of the church year and we will learn about the Circle of the Church Year at Godly Play Sunday School and then do a service project preparing Advent Boxes for all those who worship at 8AM and 5PM!

 
Youth Group
 This week: Gratitude.   Did you know gratitude has proven benefits for your spiritual and mental health? As Thanksgiving draws near, we’ll examine what we’re grateful for and why. Come reflect and learn more this Sunday!

 LOOKING AHEAD
Children's Advent Program Dates   
  • Dec. 1st:  Watch for a new weekly Children's Service Bulletin, aimed to engage our older elementary school students as they worship with the congregation.  
  • Dec. 7th:  Pajamas and Pancakes Parents Morning Out, 9 AM - 1 PM. Children of all ages are invited to come in pj's or comfy clothes for pancakes, stories, crafts, games, service and fun.  Nursery care available for toddlers. We will celebrate St. Nicholas as we trim our tree. Parents--please enjoy some quiet time here at church or out-and-about.  
  • Dec. 15th:  Children's Christmas Pageant during the 10 AM Holy Eucharist  All children are invited to come to the manger and share in presentation of the Nativity story at our Children's Pageant. Does your child have a favorite costume--animal, superhero, or beloved character? Would your child like one of our traditional costumes--angel, shepherd, lamb, donkey? All are welcome at the Holy Child's Manger!
  • Dec. 24th:  We will offer Nursery Care at our early evening service.  
 
NEXT SUNDAY - Advent Wreath and Ornament Making Event !    Sunday December 1st after the 10:00 am service in the Undercroft! Come and enjoy this fun event by making a beautiful Advent wreath, and/or an ornament for your home. All supplies provided EXCEPT GREENS. Please bring cut greens (ilex, yew, holly, and other small leaf greens) to use and to share. And If you have a wreath ring from last year's event, bring it on December 1 for you to re-use. Craft and Cake Group, Thursday Evening, December 5 at 7:30PM   Please join us every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month for fellowship, “Crafting & Cake.” Bring a craft... join some friends... have some cake. Open to all who “enjoy the art of making” 7:30-9:30 in the Gathering Room, located on the lower level of the Education Wing. Prime Timers will meet on Thursday, December 5 th , 2019 at 11:30AM in the church undercroft for social time, lunch at 12:00 and a presentation at 12:30-1:30 PM. The title of the presentation is: The History of Rockville Pike: A 300 Year Journey. Please notify Nora Buckley at 301-564-0689 or norabee@live.com if you can attend and wish to order a lunch. The cost of the lunch is $10.00.
