COVID-19 Update
Dear Family and Friends of Tabor Home:

Update On Cases
Positive Residents: 67
Negative Residents: 30
Deaths: 16 with COVID
Staff Positive: 55

In full transparency, November has been a dark and heartbreaking month. Yesterday, in just one day, we sadly said goodbye to 5 dearly loved residents. In comparison to last year when we lost 5 people in the span of the entire month of November. When these deeply valued and beloved older persons pass away, it is a tragedy and one that breaks all of our hearts as we come to know and love these Tabor family members.

To all those who have lost a loved one in these hard times, please know our hearts go out to all of you. Our broken hearts empathize with each one of you and our thoughts and prayers are with you.

A Message From Pastor Ray Harris
Loving God, giver of life and our shepherd on life's journey, please provide your peace and comfort to those who grieve the loss of their loved ones. Life is such a precious gift LORD, and we thank you for each breath, from our first to last. Life is sometimes difficult and the way unclear, Oh Lord may you in grace and mercy console, direct and sustain each one as they journey through this season of grief.

You are the one who walks with us as a good shepherd, guarding, guiding, even through the valley of the shadow of death. Calm our souls today and may we experience your perfect peace.

And loving heavenly Father, we pray as well for our staff who are also grieving the loss of these dear people. We grow to love them and care deeply for them while they live in our community of care. Their passing, O LORD touches each staff member in different ways. In Your mercy LORD, heal our hearts. For the stress of daily workloads and going the extra mile, we ask for your supernatural, superabundant strength. Remind us to always rely on you for strength, rest, and even joy in the grieving journey. This is a dark month, November 2020, unprecedented for us in our human frailty, but God we know that nothing takes YOU by surprise! You are behind the scenes, we are not alone - help us trust you more.

In Jesus name, Amen.

Day of Prayer - December 1st
This too shall pass, but until then we pray.
There are times in life when the season we're given feels overwhelming and perhaps adds some extra stress and anxiety. In these seasons, when we don't know what else to do and we've taken all the practical steps we can, all that's left to do is pray. This season we're in is not forever, but it certainly seems unbearable while we're in the thick of it. We hear you and we're with you.

Will you join us for another 24 hour day of prayer this coming Tuesday, December 1st?

Reach out to Jackie to sign up for a 30 minute or 1 hour time slot dedicated to praying for Tabor Home.

What Can I Pray For?
  • Pray for the dearly loved residents in our care.
  • Pray for the hard working, dedicated staff who continue to care from the heart on the frontlines of this fight.
  • Pray for creative and innovative ideas to combat the isolation and loneliness that residents are experiencing due to being kept apart.
  • Pray for wisdom for Public Health officials and our Tabor Village leadership team as we continue to navigate this virus.
  • Pray for quick recovery for all those who tested positive for the virus.
  • Pray for continued health, protection, and strength for those who have tested negative and/or have recovered and are back at work.
  • Pray for a miracle for Tabor Home.

Communication with Families
Tabor Home continues to reach out to family members to provide updates on the health status of your loved one living at Tabor Home. Should a change in their health status occur, you will be notified as quickly as possible.

Starting immediately, Clinical staff will be contacting each resident’s designated primary contact with a telephone call at least once a week and more frequently as staffing resources permits. We realize the restricted communication between yourself and your loved ones has been hard. We hope and trust these weekly phone calls from staff will help bring a little more peace in your heart and mind as we all continue to work together in getting back to being outbreak free.

Enhanced Safety Measures
Enhanced staffing levels are being arranged due to the ongoing outbreak and the number of residents receiving end of life care. This includes Tabor Home staff, Fraser Health employees and health care workers from staffing agencies. Together, staffing ratios are increased with the goal of ensuring additional supports are available for residents health care and emotional needs and to help make the workload more manageable for staff.

The health and safety of our residents and staff is our first priority and a responsibility we take very seriously. We continue to work with Fraser Health to ensure the safety measures are in place to prevent further spread of COVID-19 at Tabor Home. These safety measures are audited on a regular basis including: hand washing, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), declutter, environmental and soiled utility.

We are continuing our weekly testing of all staff and residents at Tabor Home. Those who have recovered are back to working on-site which is great news! Those who have recovered, but have previously tested positive are not tested again as the virus could still be in their system, but no longer transferable to others. This follows Public Health guidelines, therefore, testing is only done on those who have tested negative.
Be Encouraged
"Dear Staff and family at Tabor Home. We thank you so very much for your loving care to my mom... these last 3 years. My husband and I live in rural Alberta and were able to visit Mom a couple of times a year. We have great comfort in that our God is great and merciful and He gives us our days in quantity and quality precisely, as has been pre-ordained . He has now called Mom home to be at eternal rest with Him. We do wish all the caring staff much strength right now as I understand there are more ill people who need the care you are giving."
“Be still and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge”. Psalm 46:10-11
