ECEC Champagne Brunch & Boutique Postponed

We recognize that the recent national, state, and local news regarding the
Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) may be confusing and worrisome. In the interest of ensuring that our members have current and accurate information,
we encourage you to check in with the
Los Angeles County Department of Health website regarding COVID-19.

Our temple leadership, clergy, and staff are meeting regularly to evaluate the impact to our community and are committed to being a Beit Knesset (House of Worship), Beit Midrash (House of Gathering), and Beit T'fillah (House of Prayer) for our congregation during this time. We are working hard to ensure a clean and safe environment for learning, worship, and community activities.

Based on general caution and what other similar institutions in our area are doing we are postponing the ECEC Brunch & Boutique to Sunday, May 17, 2020. We are evaluating  whether to hold, postpone or cancel events on a case by case basis.

TODAY  is the LAST DAY for American Jews to vote online in the election for the 38th World Zionist Congress and impact the Jewish future in Israel and around the world.

More than a dozen slates representing the diversity of thought, opinion and cultural identity of the American Jewish community are running. The slates, comprised of over 1,800 candidates, will vie for 152 American seats at the 38th World Zionist Congress in October 2020 in Jerusalem, where they will make decisions about the priorities and direction of important international bodies including the World Zionist Organization, Jewish National Fund and the Jewish Agency for Israel and the allocation of nearly $1 billion annually in support for Israel and world Jewry.

The power of small Jewish communities is being felt across the United States and in Israel through our participation in the World Zionist Congress election when we vote for the Reform/ARZA slate. Small congregations comprise more than 64% of the congregations affiliated with the URJ and have a voting power of more than 61,196 households. If just one person from every household voted, the small congregations of the URJ would double the number of votes received five years ago that resulted in more than 20 million dollars going to Reform causes, Reform congregations being established in Israel and election of organizational leaders who are collaborating on matters of conversion, marriage and divorce, gender rights and recognition of all Jews in their homeland. Please vote and have members of your household vote.

Cast a ballot for the future of Israel and the diaspora.

Lunch and Learn
Thursday, March 12
12PM
For many, the challenges of life can and do trigger fear in a variety of ways. Research shows that when our loving hearts are open, we find acceptance, gratitude, and compassion toward others and ourselves-our mind and body become one. Knowing how to respond from love rather than react from fear can boost our physical health and mental well-being.

In the later part of the session we will explore questions such as "Are there limits to love and acceptance? Is it ok to say no to love and turn the other cheek?  Hear fellow congregants share their personal experiences and share your own.

Cantor Ken will kick off the conversation! See flyer below for ordering lunch.
Book Group Meeting
Thursday, March 12
7PM

The Book Group will be discussing,  The Library Book , by Susan Orlean. Her latest book is a wide-ranging, deeply personal and terrifically engaging investigation of humanity's bulwark against oblivion: the library. At the center of  The Library Book  is a seven-hour fire that raged through the Los Angeles Central Library on April 29, 1986, destroying or damaging more than a million books. In one of those weird coincidences that Orlean always manages to spot, a library official was meeting with the fire department that very morning to consider finally adding sprinklers to the building. The Book Group meets in the Rothenberg Chapel.
