CancerCare's Year in Review

As the year comes to a close, we reflect on all that 2020 has brought us. CancerCare stayed true to its mission to provide help and hope to anyone affected by cancer, finding new ways and new opportunities to serve our community despite the pandemic. Highlights include the debut of Cancer Out Loud: The CancerCare Podcast, the announcement of the inaugural winners of our Young Professionals Committee scholarship and the launch of the financial component of our Pet Assistance & Wellness (PAW) program

CancerCare Debuts New Video for the Pet Assistance & Wellness (PAW) Program

CancerCare's PAW Program helps people living with cancer in active treatment and their loved ones care for their cats or dogs during the emotional, physical and financial challenges of cancer treatment. 90% of CancerCare clients who are pet owners say they struggled to care for their pets after receiving their cancer diagnosis. This year alone, 1.2 million pets live with someone newly diagnosed with cancer, leaving many of those pets at risk of being surrendered to a shelter. Our new video features Katie Couric's distinctive voice discussing the importance of animal companions and the impact of the PAW program. Watch it below.
