Presbytery of Arkansas Meeting
Congregational Vitality - June 5, 2021
Password: trinity
All are invited to Zoom in to hear about how your congregation can be revitalized as we look to God’s Holy Spirit to lead us out of the COVID-19 global pandemic. We’ve all given up a lot – but also gained a lot. How can the church be more relevant and vital in this ever-changing world? MWS Jason Tucker will share insights with us, and lead us in discussion in the 10:00 Order of the Day, and will be the guest preacher of the closing worship service. We gather at 8:30 am and the meeting should be over by 1:00 pm. We plan for this to be the last meeting for no in-person attendance, and we need all attendees to register to help with recording attendance. Click here to register on-line. The packet with all information needed for the meeting can also be found on the website.
Presbytery's Guest Speaker: MWS Jason Tucker
Who is Jason Tucker and why should you join us for his presentation at the June 5th Presbytery meeting?

Jason Tucker is the pastor of Tower Hill Presbyterian PCUSA Church in NJ. He has an MDiv from Princeton and a Doctorate in Church Revitalization. He is the co-leader of the Reclaimed Leader Podcast, church consultant, and pastor of a traditional church that has maintained the link to the tradition, but also has reached out to welcome new generations and people who don't have a deep church background.

Jason has a passion for revitalization and an obvious love for the church of Jesus Christ in all of its brokenness and beauty. He knows how challenging it is to be a pastor, how the last year particularly has been hard on pastors and church members, but he also sees the time we are in as a beautiful opportunity to lay claim to new directions.  At the Presbytery meeting, you'll have a chance in break-out rooms to talk together about some of his topics. Click on the picture to watch Jason's Presbytery meeting promo video.

On Wednesday, June 9th, Jason will also join us for a zoom meeting where we can continue the conversation in a Q&A setting. Click here to listen to Jason's Reclaimed Leader podcast.
Presbytery Profiles: Marion Humphrey
I am serving in my 37th year as pastor of Allison Memorial Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. It has been a joy to work with a dedicated congregation, with a physical location in the Dunbar area of Little Rock. While fewer than 100 in membership, Allison Memorial represents a very stable congregation. Over the last 80 years, the congregation has had only two pastors—Reverend Dr. J. Franklin Henderson and me.

I was installed as pastor of Allison Memorial in October of 1984. It is the first and only congregation where I have served as pastor. I came to Little Rock from Pine Bluff, where I had grown up in the era of Jim Crow segregation, attending all-black public schools there and developing an interest in civil rights. My mother would not permit me to join in the activities of the Pine Bluff Movement, Read more...
May 26 Pastor/Church Professional Meeting
To mask or not to mask, that is the question. But it's not the only question. What if you are not fully vaccinated? What if you are under 12 years of age? What if you have a pre-existing condition that makes it dangerous for you to get a vaccine? The list goes on and on and now the CDC has issued new guidance on who must wear masks and how far apart they must be from one another. So how does all of this impact the decisions of our sessions?

Is your head spinning? Then join a group of pastors/church professionals next Wednesday, May 26 at 10:00am on the Presbytery Zoom account for a time to ask questions and share ideas and concerns. If you don't receive an email reminder with a link to join, contact Julie Price at julietannerprice@gmail.com.
Presbytery Office Hours
The Presbytery staff are often asked if we work at the presbytery office and if we have office hours? We all work from home except Stewart who regularly works from the office, 9 to 5, Monday through Friday. Kim works from the office 2 or 3 days each month. All of us, except Stewart, are part-time employees and we each have our own flexible schedules.

If you need to drop off or pick something up, or browse the shelves of the Resource Center, we encourage you to call Stewart first to make sure he'll be there to let you in. Staff contact information can be found here.
