Client Spotlight: Meadowlands Chamber of Commerce
In 1973, several of the area’s largest corporate leaders who were an integral part of the Secaucus Merchants Association made the decision to form a Chamber of Commerce with a focus on the Meadowlands area. With the support of well-known global brands like Hartz Mountain and Mikasa this newly launched organization continued to grow into an influencer in the area.
Social Distancing vs Socialization
The goal of this blog is to address the importance of two key concepts that have a common foundation but are diametrically opposed to each other.

Socialization is the first concept I’d like to focus on. As humans, we completely depend on social interaction. As such socialization is truly the very basis of civilization as we know it. Over the centuries, mankind has relied on building social connections in order to not only survive, but to thrive. Countless studies on ‘happiness and humans’ continue to highlight the critical role of relationships and socialization in determining how happy we are. Ultimately, it is the meaningful relationships we form that are the true source of happiness across all generations and in every country. It is not how much money we spend or how fancy our lifestyles that bring contentment, but rather it is our ability to interact and socialize that brings the greatest satisfaction. In short, it is confirmed without question that humans need social experiences to learn how to behave, to be part of a culture and to survive.
Center for Non-Profits Trends and Outlook- February 2020
The Center for Non Profits has recently released the results of its annual 2020 survey of the New Jersey nonprofit community. While the results were incredibly insightful at the time, things have changed drastically since then. As we all know now, there has been an extraordinary impact on the community since the coronavirus burst on the scene. As the virus first began to spread and gain increasing attention, the early conversation for nonprofits focused on “to reschedule or not reschedule” major events and fundraisers as well as on “how to keep clients and employees safe.” As the situation expands and the conversation goes in a new direction the results of the survey will be further exacerbated.

Not surprisingly the most critical issue for all respondents is the increasing demand for services, which, as in past years, continues to outpace funding. This is not a new trend and is anticipated to remain as a key concern going forward.
