IPCF COVID-19 Response Fund
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its presence in our community, Illinois Prairie Community Foundation has established the IPCF COVID-19 Response Fund to support local nonprofits that serve populations who have been impacted by the COVID-19 virus and its economic consequences.

The Drake Zimmerman and Jan Elfline Fund has shown its support for the community by offering to match the first $25,000 raised through the emergency fund. For every dollar donated to this fund, the Drake Zimmerman and Jan Elfline Fund will match it, up to $25,000.

One hundred percent of all donated funds will be used to administer impactful grants to local nonprofits in need. Read our FAQs for more information.

Any money Illinois Prairie Community Foundation receives for this purpose from federal or state government agencies, including the Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund (a joint effort between the Alliance of Illinois Community Foundations and United Way of Illinois) will be deposited into IPCF's COVID-19 Response Fund for distribution to local nonprofit agencies. 

Please talk to your tax adviser when filing your 2020 tax forms to see if your donations qualify for tax relief. Under the stimulus bill signed by President Trump on March 27, 2020, taxpayers who do not itemize on their 2020 tax forms may deduct up to $300 in cash giving for the 2020 tax year. Donations to Donor Advised Funds would not qualify for the nonitemizer deduction.

Youth Sought for 2020-21 YEP Cohort
2019-2020 YEP Cohort

Area high school students are sought to participate in Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP) during the 2020-2021 school year. An initiative of IPCF, YEP is a program in which high school students allocate grant funds to local nonprofits.
 
YEP provides opportunities to build leadership and teamwork skills while engaging participants in a unique, philanthropic experience. Members will be responsible for developing grant guidelines and awarding a total of $10,000 to selected youth-focused programs.
 
Applications are available at  www.ciyep.org or may be downloaded  here. Deadline to submit an application is Friday, April 3.  Individuals selected to be a part of the new YEP group will be notified in May.

Annual Report is Now Available 
2019 was a good year for Illinois Prairie Community Foundation. We granted a record $1.8 million to nonprofit organizations in our community, state and country and reached nearly $17 million in assets!

The  2019 Annual Report is available online. Printed copies can be obtained by contacting the IPCF office at 309-662-4477. 
Women to Women Spring Event
The Women to Women Giving Circle will host a Stories of Resilience program for Women to Women members and guests from  4:30-6 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, at the 
ISU Alumni Center.

This is a rescheduled program after the April 21 Spring Forum featuring Dara Williamson of the Ounce of Prevention was cancelled due to the Center for Disease Control's guidelines on large gatherings . 

Mark Your Calendars: The Women to Women Summer Celebration will be Tuesday, June 23, at ISU's Hancock Stadium Club, 211 N. Main St., Normal. 
YEP Grant Celebration
Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP) recognized the six recipients of its annual grant cycle at a Grant Celebration on Feb. 16 at Special Olympics Illinois in Normal.
Representatives from Sunnyside  Community Garden & Food Forest accepted their check

Nonprofit organizations receiving YEP grants totaling $9,520 were: 
Bloomington High School Promise Council, Fostering Dignity, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Sunnyside Community Garden & Food Forest, The Forgotten and YWCA of McLean County.  View more about grant recipients or  view photos from event .
 
Seven years ago, IPCF launched Youth Engaged in Philanthropy - a group of high school students from our four counties with an annual philanthropic grant  budget of $10,000 to support local youth-focused initiatives.
Donations from IRA
If you plan on making a distribution from your IRA into a fund at IPCF, please send us an email or call our office to let us know to expect the check. IRA distribution checks often arrive at the Foundation with no indication of whose fund it comes from or what fund it is meant for at the Foundation. Letting us know about your intended distribution, the IRA fund issuing the check, the amount and which IPCF fund it's intended for helps ensure the donation is properly credited.

IRA owners may make donations to qualified charities through their IRA and receive tax benefits in the process. Community Foundations are public charitable foundations, and, as thus, are eligible to receive IRA distributions into any  endowment, fiscal sponsorship or field of interest fund.
