The CARES Act, recently passed by Congress to alleviate the financial stress caused by the COVID-19 Coronavirus, has a provision that allows church employees to receive unemployment benefits.
Church employees do not need to have paid into the plan but are eligible for benefits. This may be of help to preschool and other employees who have been laid off as a result of the need for social distancing.
