Recapping the Unforgettable
2019 Black, Red, & White Gala!
The ALS Association Greater Sacramento Chapter held the Studio 54-themed Black, Red, & White Gala on November 9 th , 2019 at the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria. The 1970’s attire was abundant, and many guests arrived dressed to impress with big hair and go-go boots, while grooving to the sounds of local favorites, The Cheeseballs! It was a memorable evening complete with food, drink, and merriment, all while honoring ALS heroes and raising critical funds for the Chapter’s care service programs.

Groundbreaking ALS Voice of the Patient Report Submitted to FDA
The ALS Association submitted a report to the FDA documenting the real impact ALS has on people living with the disease and their caregivers in order to inform the development of treatments. The information in the report draws from a survey of people living with ALS.
New ALS Association Partnership with ALS Investment Fund Targets $100 Million in New Funding for ALS Therapeutic Development
The ALS Association is partnering with, and will be directly investing in, the ALS Investment Fund II to raise $100 million to accelerate investment in ALS research and development. This second venture fund with offices in Boston and Amsterdam, succeeds a fund that started in The Netherlands and raised $25 million in two-and-a-half years to invest in companies with ALS initiatives.
Bride-to-be Caregiver Reframes Future with a Fiancé Living with ALS

Lynn Hogan became a caregiver early in her relationship her fiancé, Steve Ziegler.
“On our first date we went out and he was sitting next to me and he said, ‘You might notice – don’t get weirded out or anything – but you might notice some twitching, weird stuff going on with my arms. We don’t know what it is yet. But one of the things it could be is ALS,’” she recalled.
The Iron Woman Behind the Iron Horse

The Greater New York Chapter of The ALS Association has commemorated a pivotal caregiver from ALS history with a luncheon named in honor of Eleanor Gehrig, the wife of famed baseball hero Lou Gehrig.
Eleanor Twitchell and Lou Gehrig married in 1933, and Eleanor soon became the “First Lady of the Yankees,” traveling the country with the New York baseball team.
