The Donohoe Companies Go Above and Beyond for Homeowner in Need

Meet Mrs. G, a senior homeowner living in Silver Spring who was in dire need of safe and
healthy home repair when we met her. Her husband recently passed away and she could not
afford to rehabilitate her home on the money she makes working as a street vendor in Washington DC. Of greatest concern to Mrs. G was her furnace and heat pump. Winter was fast approaching when she contacted us and her furnace wasn't working, meaning she had no heat in her house. She was using multiple space heaters to try to heat her home for herself and her kids which was causing her electricity to go out intermittently, not to mention causing her electric bill to
skyrocket. After we heard her story, we were determined to do everything we could to help. We matched Donohoe, one of our corporate partners, with Mrs. G for National Rebuilding Day and so far they have gone above and beyond to assist her. Not only were they able to raise enough money to replace her furnace, but they are completing many other home rehabilitation projects to make sure that Mrs. G has a safe and healthy space to call home for years to come. Thanks so much to Mrs. G for putting her faith in RTMC, and thanks so much to Donohoe for their unwavering commitment to our community members in need!
Good News in Fundraising

RTMC Approved for Maryland Energy Administration Grant

Rebuilding Together Montgomery County was selected to receive $127,000 from the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) as part of their 2017 Clean Energy Communities Low-to-Moderate Income Grant Program! This means that we will be able to bring weatherization and energy efficiency upgrades to more Montgomery County homeowners in need next year. We are proud to partner with MEA and are so grateful to them for the support! Questions about this funding can be directed to Melissa Erickson, Development and Communications Manager, by phone at 301-947-9400 x105 or email at [email protected]
Lawn and Garden Care for Spring

Spring brings with it a great opportunity to get outside and care for your lawn or garden!  As any homeowner knows, lawns left unattended can quickly overgrow and become hard to manage. With April coming to a close, we wanted to share important tips on how to properly care for your lawn and garden during the month of May. Adding these items to your to-do list will make your property all the more beautiful and inviting. Happy gardening!
RTMC Partners with The Friedson Group to
Promote Home Safety!

Rebuilding Together Montgomery County (RTMC), in partnership with the Friedson Group of Long & Foster Real Estate, is launching the Safe Homes, Happy Residents Program  aimed at reducing the risk of home fires and carbon monoxide poisoning among Montgomery County's low-income residents. Through this partnership, The Friedson Group will donate a portion of its commission (for each transaction in which it acts as an agent) to RTMC to be used to purchase smoke detectors, CO detectors, and fire extinguishers for installation in the homes of RTMC's clients. To kick-off the launch of this program, volunteers from the Friedson Group, together with a crew from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, will install smoke/CO detectors and fire extinguishers in the home of one of RTMC's clients during National Rebuilding Day.

We are beyond thankful to have such generous, concerned partners as The Friedson group. Supporters like them provide safety to our neighbors in need and we are so grateful to be working them!
