I hope this week’s edition of the Library newsletter finds all of my library friends safe and well! At this time, Cary Library remains closed indefinitely. Per the advice of Lexington Public Health and Town leadership, the library will not open until at least May 4th. On behalf of the staff at Cary Library, I want to say THANK YOU, to our wonderful community for your support and your flexibility during this challenging time as we navigate these uncharted waters. We are grateful for your kind notes and messages on our social media, please know that we miss you too! We appreciate all of you who have tuned in and negotiated the hiccups with us as we are trying to take our programming into an online environment. While it hasn’t been perfect, we hope that seeing a familiar face on the screen and hearing a few familiar songs and stories helps to provide a small feeling of normalcy to our youngest friends. We also want to say an especially epic THANK YOU to the often unsung heroes of the Library’s staff team – our custodians Tsering and Stephen, who are not only caring for our beloved fish while we are away, but more importantly are working along with the rest of the Town’s Public Facilities Department to clean and disinfect our building.

Take care, be well. Library staff are only a message away if you need advice on what book to read next, what movie you might like, or need a suggestion for a resource for helping your child with their new virtual assignments. It may look different right now, but Cary Librarians are still here for you – contact us and a librarian will get back to you as soon as possible. We miss you and look forward to seeing you again when it is safe to do so!

Sincerely,

Alissa Lauzon
Head of Youth Services
