Middle School Play: The Scariest Play - Ever!
8th Grade Parent Reception Before the Middle School Play
Please join us for an 8th grade parent reception on Friday, December 6, from 5:00 to 5:45 p.m. in the Terrace Room of the Trianon. Mingle with fellow parents from the class, as well as a select number of Upper School parents for the hour that precedes the Middle School Fall Play. This is an opportunity for parents of 8th graders to hear stories parent-to-parent about the Upper School experience at CSS. Upper School parents are prepared to share accounts of ways their children have explored personal passions, engaged in intellectual adventures, and immersed in real-world, artistic, and athletic experiences - and answer questions about 9th grade.

We will be sure to get you over to the Louisa Performing Arts Center in plenty of time to find a comfortable seat and to see the curtains go up!

Kindergarteners and Senior Buddies Reflect on Kindness
Kindergarten students met with their Senior Buddies this week to reflect on how to spread kindness this holiday season. The younger students drew a picture illustrating their thoughts. Some of the ways they will spread kindness include: hug people to make them feel better; give thanks to dogs, cats and fish; be a good listener; give ice cream if someone's mad; be nice to the world; give friends band-aids when they're bleeding; help someone up if they fall; give people high fives; say hello and good morning to my teacher; and help others learn new things. See more photos on our Instagram and Facebook.
Middle School Activity Combines Art, Literature, and Geography
Inspired by a book. This pottery demonstration by Mrs. Kaja Reynolds brought together the 6th grade class following their study of the Newbery Award-winning novel, A Single Shard. The honorable story of a young boy's journey to become an apprentice to a master Potter captivated these middle school readers. Set in 12th century Korea, this piece of historical fiction reveals values of hard work, selflessness, honesty, and respect. Intentionally, Mrs. Anne Hatch's literature selections in  6th grade English parallel the 6th grade Geography curriculum in order to make interesting and relevant interdisciplinary connections for students. Currently, the 6th graders are studying the Asian continent in Mr. Amos White's World Geography class.

PreKindergarten Collecting Markers to Recycle
Even our youngest students learn valuable lessons and enjoy a sense of pride through service! PreK students are leading a Crayola Marker Recycling Project. Their bright yellow collection boxes are located inside the front door of the Early Childhood Center (ECC) and the Children's Academic Center (CAC). Have dried-out markers? Save them up and drop them off.
Submit Student Achievements & Photos

Parents and teachers are encouraged to submit nominations and digital photos of student achievements to Anslee Wolfe, Communications and Marketing Manager, at  [email protected] These extracurricular achievements make us a well-rounded school and highlight the many unique talents and passions of our student body.
