Deadline to Apply for New Incubator Class is Jan. 31
|
If you are new to the practice of law – or looking to enter private practice for the first time in your career – get the mentoring and resources you need through the state bar’s Handle|BAR Incubator Program.
This program is designed for those with an entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm about serving low- and modest-income clients. The deadline to apply is Monday, January 31.
“The incubator program is exactly what I hoped it would be,” said Shalisa Cumberbatch, a member of the incubator’s second class. “The wealth of knowledge and guidance available through the program is immeasurable. I was a bit nervous about starting my own practice after being admitted to the bar – I didn’t know where to start! Fortunately, through the guidance of the program, I am building my practice from the ground up, brick by brick, and am learning so much about not just how to run a law firm, but also the ins and outs of entrepreneurship.”
Benefits include:
- Furnished office and meeting room space within the State Bar of Nevada’s Las Vegas and Reno offices;
- Free CLE;
- Weekly mentoring, education, and tips on how to start and build your practice from our practice management advisor;
- Support from the state bar’s business partners;
- Information from experienced attorneys who have opened their own practices; and
- Sessions with judges providing tips from the bench.

Recent McKinsey research demonstrates that employees will leave their jobs if they don’t feel a sense of belonging in your organization. Often, firms have one or two leaders moving the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) conversations forward, feeling fatigued and unsuccessful.
Judy Hisson, president of Nesso Strategies, will lead a conversation to define belonging and explore how you champion it while building a stronger coalition interested in bringing DEI to the forefront of your firm.
