Open to All: Food Distribution Every Wednesday at The Glades Initiative

The Glades Initiative offers weekly food distribution to anyone in need. Those coming in cars are asked to line up beside the office for drive-through pick-up on Wednesdays from 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM. Both drivers and walkers will receive food bags on a first-come-first-serve basis. 

Our staff and volunteers will wear personal protective gear as we handle and distribute the food bags. We ask that drivers and their passengers remain in their vehicles and practice social distancing measures to keep everyone safe.

Mentors Make a Difference. Become a Mentor Today!

Take Stock in Children is looking for mentors to support and meet new students coming into the program in August. Mentors help our students earn a college scholarship by simply just meeting once a week at least 3 times a month during the school year. To learn more, go to our website www.takestockpalmbeach.org and complete a mentor application.

Film Screening and Panel Discussion of 'The Mask You Live In', by Healthier Glades

This is a virtual film screening for youth (particularly young boys ages 12-18).  The documentary The Mask You Live In follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while negotiating America’s narrow definition of masculinity. Any high school student that registers will receive community service hour credit (2 hours).

Food Distributions in the Glades

The Glades Initiative Food Distribution Every Wednesday (Open to Everyone)

For the past year and a half, and continuing into the future, The Glades Initiative offers weekly food distribution to anyone in need. Those coming in cars are asked to line up beside the office for drive-through pick-up on Wednesdays from 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM. An interactive tool using Google Maps to help people easily locate free food and hot meals in Palm Beach County. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify the information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

May is Summer Water Safety Month

According to the Department of Children and Families’ Fatality Prevention webpage, 31 children have died due to drowning so far this year! Most of these preventable deaths are attributed to children leaving their homes unnoticed or left unattended.

Legacy Behavioral Health Center Provides Services to

Community Partners: Attached is Legacy Behavioral Health Center's referral form. They have funds available to provide mental health services for the uninsured, homeless, or whose insurance does not provide mental health coverage. They would need proof of income, but if the client does not have this information, provide them with a letter from any entity advocating the need for mental health services.

If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last. 

If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.
