2021 Racing is Almost Upon Us - We Hope!

It's May and, just like other years, most of us can prep our boats and launch, but sadly once again, the pandemic restrictions have forced us to delay our season and put our racing plans on pause.

Due to current public health restrictions the Susan Hood Trophy Race (SHTR) has been rescheduled to Friday July 30th and will be followed on Sunday, August 01st with the rescheduled Lake Ontario Short Handed Racing Series (LOSHRS) Race #1 – a 16 NM Course Race.

LOSHRS Races #2 & #3 remain scheduled for Saturday, June 19th and Sunday, June 20th. Each of these coastal races will constitute a maximum of 28 NM along the north-western shore of Lake Ontario. We will let you know if there will be any modifications to those races as soon as we know what the restrictions will be at that time.

LO300/600 remains scheduled for Saturday, July 10th.

Registration for all Lake Ontario Offshore Racing events remain open and we keep planning for a good season hopeful that restrictions will allow us to get together on the water.

Due to the delays we have been forced to make, the Early Bird Registration Deadline for LOSHRS has been extended to Tuesday, May 25th; for LO300/600 is June 01st; and for the SHTR has been extended to Sunday, July 06th.

Use the links on the LOOR website to sign yourself up for one or ALL the races. And please remember, if you are new to offshore racing and have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to us at  info@LOOR.ca  or contact your club LOOR Ambassador. You can find out who your club Ambassador is by going to our website - loor.ca. We'll help get you to the start line.

Please note that although the LOOR committee continues to plan for a full racing season, we cannot predict what restrictions will be in place. We have been planning for all scenarios and have several alternate plans in place. Please watch your inbox and LOOR social media. We will ensure that we communicate any modifications as soon as they are finalised.

We’re hoping to make the 2021 LOOR racing season memorable for all.

Take care of yourself, and if you can, take care of someone else.

Virtual Racing - Susan Hood Online!

While COVID-19 restrictions in Ontario have prompted us to reschedule the on-water Susan Hood Trophy Race, LOOR is pleased to be able to hold a virtual version of the race on the originally scheduled date and time, Friday June 4, 2021 at 8:00 PM EST.

LOOR has partnered with SailOnline.org to set the identical course and, using real-time weather, race the V-SHTR from the comfort of your own home.

Register your virtual boat at any time for free (for LOOR races every racer will have their own Beneteau First 36.7 to control), and if you’d like to practice using the interface you can join any race SOL has currently opened registration for on their platform. (Note that other races my use a different boat). A reminder email with further details will be sent closer to the race when V-SHTR registration is open and anyone can practice on the actual course for the Virtual Susan Hood Trophy Race.

The partnership will continue through the summer with concurrent on-water and online versions of the LO300 Challenge and the LOSHRS 100-miler races. Again, for these races the weather will be real-time and the courses will be the same for both on-water and virtual racing.
