Weekly Director Letter 2/11/2022
Dear Parents,

Love is certainly in the air at Kids For Kids Academy. Everyone is so excited for Monday’s upcoming Valentine exchange. If you haven’t done so already, please make sure and send in your child’s Valentines so that they can participate with their friends. Remember the only restriction is no candy.

This week we had an author visit our school. Kentrell, is the author of the Shelley adventure series. Shelley is a deaf little girl who has many adventures! He shared different stories with our Rainbow class, our VPK kids, Kindergarten, first grade, and second grade classes. Part of his presentation included teaching the children what it is like to be deaf as well as how sign language is used to communicate. In the end, each group of students learned various signs and were excited for the opportunity to take home a signed book from the author. If your child was in attendance, you will notice an eight dollar charge on your Brightwheel account to cover the cost of the book. To learn more about Kentrell, be sure to visit his website.

This week I also had the opportunity to sit in on our second grade classroom for two days. As their teacher was out and zoomed from home I was able to sit in the back of the room and supervise while she taught. What a joy it was to see how well behaved the students were and how wonderful their teacher was teaching them remotely. We are so blessed to have so many talented and wonderful teachers at our school.

On Thursday, I enjoyed spending time in the Science Lab with our kindergartners. They have been learning about vibration and had the opportunity to put into practice what they had read about in their textbooks. They were so excited to feel the vibration of a tuning fork, see the vibration make salt jump off of a piece of plastic wrap, see and feel the vibration as a tuning fork splashed water on their table, and many more activities. Click on this link to see a video of the activity.

Finally thank you to everyone who participated in the Papa John's fundraiser. Those individuals who turned in envelopes have already received their cards. This weekend is the last opportunity to sell cards to family and friends. Please turn in all envelopes on Monday so we can give you your cards and determine which class sold the most and will win the pizza party! Thanks again for your help.

Have a great weekend,

Beth Rosenthal Davis, Ed.S, NBCT
