Lancer Named Among National Merit Finalists
Congratulations on this outstanding academic achievement!
Lake Park High School senior Aanika Parikh has been selected as a Finalist in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Competition. Aanika was selected based on test scores of the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and represents less than one percent of the U.S. high school seniors.

To become a Finalist, a Semifinalist must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by the high school principal, and earn SAT scores that confirm the student's earlier performance on the qualifying test. The Semifinalist and a high school official must submit a detailed scholarship application, which includes the student's self-descriptive essay and information about the Semifinalist's participation and leadership in school and community activities. The selection of some 7,500 Merit Scholarship winners from the group of more than 15,000 Finalists is now in progress. Good luck, Aanika!

The College & Career Center helps graduating Lancers explore opportunities.
The Lake Park High School College & Career Center has been publicizing scholarships to graduating Lancers in a wide variety of ways. Please encourage your student(s) to take advantage of the great local scholarship opportunities available.

Scholarships: Please visit the Financial Aid & Scholarships page on the College & Career Center website. Students can view local scholarships on Xello, the post-secondary planning tool (student access only). Paper copies are available in the College & Career Center. Families can also view a summary list of scholarships. The first tab features local scholarships, and the second tab lists additional scholarships.

FAFSA Completion Reminder:
Don’t forget to complete the 2022-23 Free Application for Federal Student Aid! Beginning last school year, students are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®), the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid, or the Non-Participation Form to receive a diploma from a public high school in Illinois.

Recently, the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) recognized Lake Park for an exemplary rate of financial aid applications completed by the Class of 2021 over the previous financial aid cycle. Four levels of recognition were used to determine the awards for the Class of 2021 (2021-22 financial aid application completion). Lake Park earned Bronze Honors by supporting students and families in the financial aid process and achieving a completion rate of 65% or higher. Each of the 431 public and private recognized high schools received an award banner to display at their school, along with the recognition level.
