The Clear Lake Chronicle is sent to members of the Camp Wenonah community throughout the year.
  • ONTARIO PREMIER DOUG FORD ANNOUNCED ON SUNDAY THAT ALL ONTARIO SUMMER CAMPS ARE PERMITTED TO OPEN FOR SUMMER 2021! This was an announcement that we were anticipating but, nonetheless, it now paves the way for a successful season ahead.

  • Upon the official release of provincial guidelines for overnight camps, and the opportunity for our team to review them, we will send our Final Forms & Details package to July Camp families in early June and to August Camp families in late June.

  • COVID protocols are in the final stages with Ontario health officials, in consultation with the Ontario Camps Association (OCA: representing 450+ accredited camps in Ontario).

  • Wenonah remains financially stable and we have a thorough process in place for cancellations, credits, refunds and considerations for the 2022 season.
We have worked tirelessly to provide Summer Camp in 2021 and we continue to feel incredibly optimistic with so many signs pointing in the right direction.

We continue to honour the faith you have put in us to provide a SAFE Summer Camp experience in 2021. We believe passionately that kids need Camp more than ever. We hope that Summer Camp in 2021 can provide kids with the connections, the meaning, and the fun they have missed during the past year. Since last September, the collective efforts of our year-round team at Wenonah have focussed on providing Summer Camp. We continue to plan for that.

We will continue to update our Wenonah community in the coming weeks. We wanted to provide a "snapshot" of our plans, as they are today.
Our Intent for 2021

Our plan continues to be to offer our full Summer Camp experience, providing that current conditions in Ontario are deemed safe to do so. We are full in the vast majority of our Periods for the Summer, with close to 200 on waiting lists. This speaks to the huge desire and demand for Summer Camp. Our seasonal staff team (100+) is in place, including our full compliment of medical team members, and the process began three weeks ago to fully open Wenonah for the season.

Meanwhile, we know Summer Camp families are keen to learn more about our plans for the Summer Camp experience. You may recall that all overnight camps are awaiting formal guidance from the office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) for the Province of Ontario. That guidance will inform the protocols we will have in place at Wenonah, and the Province has indicated that this information will be shared by June 2.
COVID Protocols for 2021

The Wenonah COVID-19 Task Force continues to meet and offer guidance to all aspects of our 2021 operation viewed through a COVID-19 lens. Task Force Chair Tom Appleyard also plays a central role with the OCA and their work with the provincial government. Once the provincial guidelines are shared by the CMOH, we are then able to confirm all final details for Wenonah and share this information with you.
Final Forms & Details

Pending the anticipated release of the guidelines from the office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, Final Forms & Details (including our Family Handbook, medical forms, cabinmate request forms, and more) will be emailed to families beginning in a few weeks.

July Camp families will receive this information in early June, and August Camp families can look for this email in late June.
Cancellations, Refunds, and Summer Camp 2022 Credits

As a result of significant support over the past year from our 400+ Wenonah Champions Circle families, significant investments from members of our community and government support, Camp Wenonah is financially stable and on solid footing moving into the 2022 season and beyond.

We have reduced our cancellation fees and extended our cancellation date until June 4. We have also extended the deadline for payment of final fees until June 4.

If you wish to cancel your registration before June 4, and decide to leave your fees with us as a credit toward your 2022 registration, we will waive all cancellation and administrative fees.
Summer Camp 2022 Registration

Long-time Wenonah families know that we begin registration every year during July and August for Summer Camp for the next season. We will continue this approach for Summer Camp 2022. Given the high demand for Summer Camp 2021, we are moving to a staged approach for 2022 registrations, starting with Wenonah Champions Circle families, 2021 registered families, past registrants, and finally new families.
Finally, on a personal note, I would like to share appreciation on two fronts today. To our full-time/year-round team at Wenonah (Stewy, JJ, Tito, Renata, Woody, Nancy, Tom, Jane, Dr. Phyllis, Andy, CR, Caron, Simon, Liz, Jason, Rob & Sue) and to our Wenonah COVID-19 Task Force (Tom, Nancy, Katerina and Brent) THANKS TO EACH OF YOU for your remarkable leadership, vision, engagement and fortitude during this period of such uncertainty.

And to our Wenonah community; campers, families and alumni, you have always believed in the magic that we create at Wenonah each year. During the past year, you have never wavered in your support of our experience and leadership, and we are forever grateful.

We can't wait to welcome everyone BACK to Wenonah.

Jeff
