Winter Fest: What to know and how to go

On Saturday, Jan. 22, Student Involvement and Leadership, University Activities Board (UAB) and several other organizations are coming together to host Winter Fest to kick off the new semester.

Every home in the U.S. is eligible to order 4 free at-⁠home COVID-⁠19 tests. The tests are completely free. Orders will usually ship in 7-12 days. Order your tests now so you have them when you need them.

CDC Updates and Shortens Recommended Isolation and Quarantine Period for General Population

According to CDC, people with COVID-19 should isolate for 5 days and if they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving, follow that by 5 days of wearing a mask when around others.

Game Time at the Fairfield Commons Mall

Join us for bowling, karaoke, darts, and some fun at the Fairfield Commons Mall

IFI Events
Ice Skating Riverscape Metropark

Come out for a fun evening of ice skating in downtown Dayton at Riverscape Metropark! IFI volunteers will be available to help teach you how to skate.
 
Cost - $7.25. Price includes admission and skate rental.
Concessions are available for purchase on site. 
Ladies Spa Night

Join IFI Dayton for a ladies spa night on Saturday, January 22nd at 7 pm! They will do face masks, manicures, and massages




Air Force Museum Tour with Colonel

February 19, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Cost of the trip - $5 (transportation included)

Come for an official tour of the Wright Patterson Air Force Museum with a retired Air Force Colonel as a guide.

Come to the Student Union Raider Lodge which includes an Ice Skating Rink for an evening of remarkably warm cold weather activities! No need to have skates, skis or ear muffs! Mask up and come ready for some amazing fun.

Every snowflake is unique and UAB wants to see how you customize yours! Create a snowflake to be displayed at Winter Fest on Saturday, January 22, 2022!

Spring 2022 Registration Requirements
NEW STUDENTS TO THE US FOR SPRING 2022 TERM

Please be reminded that as a new to the US student for Spring 2022 term, you can't enroll in 100% online classes for Spring.  
You must have either a face to face or flexible delivery class for Spring 2022.
STUDENTS IN YOUR FINAL TERM/THESIS

Please be reminded that if you are in your final term and are not registered full time, you MUST submit a RCL form.

The deadline for the last day to drop/withdraw and receive 100% tuition refund IS FRIDAY JANUARY 21, 2022

Insurance Premium

All international students were billed $1227 for their insurance.
This coverage is from January 10, 2022 to August 14/2022,  combining both the Spring and Summer semesters.
 
The health insurance premium this year is 25% lower than in previous years.
To keep this premium low, WSU opted for an annual plan that is payable in two installments (Fall & Spring/Summer)
 
Therefore, insurance waivers will only be granted when:
The student has coverage through a U.S.-based insurance from an employer, the employer of a spouse, parents, governmental sponsors such as SACM, or is graduating on Spring 2022.
 
Insurance waiver requests may be submitted electronically no later than Friday, January 21, 2022.
Reminders
Working Off Campus without
CPT Authorization is ILLEGAL

F-1 visa regulations  8 CFR 214.2(f)(9) allow international students to ONLY work on campus. Off campus work is limited to internships/co-ops after 2 full time semesters after UCIE APPROVAL ONLY. Working off campus in any other capacity is illegal and if caught could lead to SEVIS Termination and possibly deportation.

Student Resources
Self-Care Pantry

Women's Center provides personal care items such as toothpaste, body wash, deodorant, tampons, etc. They also have various items for student-parents and caregivers such as diapers, formula, wipes, and more.

Fill out an online form to receive self-care items, and Women's Center. You are limited to using the pantry once a month. Learn more here.
The Wright State University Raider Food Pantry works to end food insecurity in the lives of Wright Students by providing them with access to food so they may focus on their academic endeavors.  


The Raider Food Pantry is located in 055 Student Union. You must schedule an appointment via the online appointment

Women Walking West (W3) is a non-profit organization, that strives to promote access to opportunities needed to succeed in school and life for foreign-born women in the U.S.

Their services are at no cost.
Recreation Events
Join Wright State Recreation Events to explore a new local park, go on a hike, etc!
Meet new friends, get outside, enjoy the fresh air and move your legs!
Make sure you bring water, a snack, and dress for the weather.

Campus Recreation: Ice Climbing

Date & Time: February 5 – February 6

Description: What is ice climbing you may ask? Ice climbing is climbing of features such as icefalls, frozen waterfalls, and cliffs and rock slabs covered with ice refrozen from flows of water.

Interested? Join us February 5 - 6 as we journey to Michigan for some Ice Climbing! Open to beginners and advanced climbers alike.

Spring 2022 Running Hours

Tuesdays & Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.!
Each run will be anywhere from 2 to 4 miles in length, with the option to do more or less.

Register on IMLeagues and meet us at The Alumni Tower behind the Student Union.
Open Swim Pool Hours

7 a.m. - 2 p.m. Monday - Friday.

The entrance is in the Fitness Center through the locker rooms.
