Since the outset of our City's housing affordability crisis, the San Francisco Interfaith Council has been an active and vocal proponent of the morality of housing as a human right and of measures that ensure middle-income residents will not be the victims of displacement.

In this spirit, after careful consideration and deliberation, the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Interfaith Council unanimously and enthusiastically endorses Prop A: Affordable Homes for San Franciscans Now.

The SFIC is endorsing Prop A, for a more affordable San Francisco, and encourages congregations and their faithful to vote YES on this important measure. Prop A is a $600 million Affordable Housing Bond on the November ballot that will fund more than 2,800 new affordable homes over the next four years.

Prop A will:
  • Provide much needed housing for our most vulnerable residents - seniors, veterans, low-income working families, and LGBTQ San Franciscans
  • Fund permanently affordable housing for educators
  • NOT raise taxes
In addition to voting YES for the measure in November, as it needs 66.7% to pass, we are asking congregation leaders and their faithful to spread the word about Prop A, in whatever way is appropriate with the policies of their respective communities of faith.
