In Memory of Dick Cunningham
|
|
Richard O. “Dick” Cunningham, a pioneer in international trade law and social justice advocate, died on November 26, 2021, at the age of 79.
Dick was passionate about social justice issues, including civil rights, the Vietnam War, women’s rights, gender rights, freedom of speech and sexual freedom rights. He was the supervising attorney in the Supreme Court case involving women in military academies and played a key role in the Federal case allowing government employees to protest without reprisal.
His most recent achievement was to work with the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom and the American Law Institute to change the ALI’s Model Penal Code on Sexual Assault to redefine consent and other important issues. At the time NCSF started working on this project in 2006, 21 states had no definition of consent in their criminal laws related to sexual assault and related charges. Dick considered this one of the highlights of his social justice campaigns.
In memory of Dick, NCSF is creating the Dick Cunningham Legal Scholarship Fund to assist law students whose goal is to support freedom of sexual expression for consenting adults. Please send donations to: https://foundationofncsf.wildapricot.org/Donate

NCSF Media Updates are a sampling of recent stories printed in US newspapers, magazines, and selected websites containing significant mention of BDSM-leather-fetish, polyamory, or Lifestyle issues and topics. These stories may be positive, negative, accurate, inaccurate or anywhere in between.
NCSF publishes the Media Updates to provide readers with a comprehensive look at what media outlets are writing about these topics and to urge everyone to make comments that dispute stereotypes about alternative sexuality.
