Season's greetings to you and yours!

Thank you for bringing joy and smiles to families all over Tijuana this past year and we hope you share in joyous moments with your loved ones. We are amazed by your constant support and cannot express our gratitude enough. You are the reason we are able to do what we do!
Join the Movement & Give Back
Giving Tuesday
Each year we grow immensely and reach more and more families across Tijuana AND San Diego. Through our general fund, we are able to implement and sustain new programs providing dozens of individuals with food security, education, and more. We can't do what we do without your help. Help us reach more families and build hope without borders on this giving Tuesday.

New Master Carpenters
Erick Uscanga
Although many of you have already built with Erick, he was officially named a master carpenter this past month. To celebrate this achievement, we give our master carpenters new hammers engraved with their name. Erick began training to be a master carpenter late last year and has been building non-stop with us since then. He is originally from Veracruz, Mexico, and came to Tijuana in December 2017. In 2018, Erick went on a mission trip to Nepal and fell in love with serving others. Since returning from his trip, Erick became more involved with building as well as becoming a full-time volunteer at the Faro de Luz community center. When he's not building, Erick studies criminology, plays soccer, and loves to eat carnitas! We are happy to have Erick as part of our building team!
Rubén Darío Cruz
Welcome to our building team, Rubén! Rubén was also named a master carpenter this past month after building with us since he was much younger. Most of you know Rubén as Flaco, his nickname from his family because he is the most flaco out of all of his siblings! Flaco is also originally from Veracruz, Mexico and moved to Tijuana about 2 years ago. Although he looks very serious in this picture, it is rare to see Flaco without a smile on his face! If he's not joking around or building, Flaco is probably taking some electronic device apart and putting it back together just to see how it works, or eating his favorite cookies: Christmas sugar cookies with minimal icing. Thank you for bringing so many smiles and laughter to our team, Flaco!
Upcoming Events
Holiday Toy Drive
Help us celebrate King's Day by providing kids at both of our community centers with new or gently used toys! Every year we gather over 200 toys to distribute to all of the kids at both of our community centers. We would also love to add personal hygiene products to each present. Feel free to drop off your new or gently used toys at our donation sheds or contact us for another drop off location!
Holiday Parties 2020
Celebrate King's Day with us at our Cumbres community center on January 5 and at our Faro de Luz community center on January 12. We will be providing our communities with a fun filled day with games, crafts, and other goodies! If you would like to get more involved, please contact us to find out how! Thank you for bringing the holiday spirit to Tijuana and placing so many smiles on our community's faces!
A Senior Leader
Natalie Feldman
Natalie is a senior at Canyon Crest Academy and has been a leader on our high school leadership team since last year. Although she may appear soft-spoken, Natalie's heart speaks loudly. Since becoming a leader, she has attended numerous builds, growing her leadership skills each time. When she began building, she didn't know how to use a hammer. Now she has her own framing hammer and uses it well! Natalie loves spending time with the kids on the builds, being able to practice her Spanish and make lasting relationships. She is passionate about providing other youth with the opportunity to take a look at a completely different world from what we know in Carmel Valley. Natalie often expresses her gratitude for Casas de Luz for providing her with direction at such a young age. Thank you for allowing us to maintain a strong organization, offering youth opportunities to see the world with different eyes.

Despensas de Luz - Holiday Special!
Feeding for the Holidays
While the holidays brings up feelings of joy and love, it also brings stress and worry for a lot of families, especially those in our Tijuana communities. Would you like to lessen one worry for a family? We are offering a holiday special for our Despensas de Luz program, with a one time payment of $20! Sponsoring a family this December for $20 will ensure their plates are full and their hearts are warm! We need your support to help families to worry less about food and enjoy the presence and love of their family. If you would like to participate, you can simply Venmo or donate $20 stating "Holiday Despensas" to provide a family with meals for this holiday season.
My 15 Years
Tania's Quinceañera
On November 17, Tania celebrated her 15th birthday with a traditional quinceañera at Faro de Luz. This celebration was especially unique because it was entirely put on by volunteers of Faro de Luz and community members. It is amazing to watch as our communities grow and work together to achieve their goals. Felicidades Tania!
Donations
Donation Sheds at St. James Catholic Church

Sheds are at the end of the parking lot of the church if coming from the North. If you are coming from the South, take Via de la Valle and drive towards the ocean. On Del Mar Downs Road, turn right and continue until the end of the road where you will turn left. Drive left up the hill and the sheds will be on your left! There is a rope protecting our sheds from being a dump zone, so feel free to drop off your  usable  donations right there!   Please contact us so we know to expect it!
