Like most of the world, Haiti has been under severe lockdown due to COVID-19. As an essential service, the clinic remains open, providing much needed service to the Charrier neighborhood of Cap-Haitien. We are very proud of our Haitian staff for serving even in the face of all of this trouble. The national restrictions don't make it easy to get to work, yet they come faithfully.
We are also proud of all of Haiti Cheri's supporters who enable people like the man shown in the picture to receive treatment. Because you continue to pray and give, we are able to pay staff and purchase supplies. These are not easy times anywhere in the world. We recognize that, which makes us appreciate your support even more.
Times are very hard in Haiti. Inflation runs rampant, making everything from basic personal necessities to clinic supplies expensive. The virus has aggravated an already fragile economic system. Life is hard, but the Haitian people are strong and resilient. Christians in Haiti know what it is to pray and could teach much to the rest of us.
Under more "normal" times, we would have taken teams from the U.S. to Haiti two or three times by this point in the year. Travel restrictions have made it impossible. As a matter of fact, Haiti closed their airports during the lockdown, and only recently reopened them. Still, there are too many restrictions to take teams in at this point. The great news is that the leadership on the ground in Haiti is getting the job done. We wish we could be there at their side, but they are able. In the meantime, we continue to support them through our prayers and finances. Many thanks to all of our readers for making it possible!
Blessings to all,
