A note from your Finance Ministry Team Elders:

It is that time of year already - the time for your Church's ministry teams to plan and budget for all the activities, missions and ministries our Church hopes to provide for you, our Church, our community and our world in 2021. We are thankful and excited for the leadership of our new Sr. Pastor, Rev. Barrett Milner, and all he will bring to this season. All your FPC Oxford ministry teams are looking forward to 2021 and all the possibilities it will bring for our Church family and we hope you are too. Despite an ongoing pandemic, FPC Oxford has been able to continue so many of its ministries because of your continued faithful giving throughout 2020. We hope you plan to continue that faithful giving in 2021. You will be receiving your 2021 stewardship materials in the mail soon and we will offer an online option to pledge as well. Thank you again for everything you have provided to your Church in 2020 and we are hopeful for what is to come in 2021 . – Susan Abbott and Pete Boone
As our church family continues ministering during this season of social isolation, please continue to remember your faithful giving to our church. The ministry of FPC continues to make an impact within our congregation and throughout our community. Bible studies and various small group meetings continue online to enrich our lives through the sharing of scripture; local missional activities continue to care for others like More Than A Meal and Love Packs; partners in mission, like Interfaith Compassion, the pantry, Doors of Hope and more, continue their important work as well and we help make that possible.

There are a variety of ways you can give:

If you need help with any specific ways to give, please contact Frances Saralvarez at [email protected].

Monthly Bible Reading
Only two months left in 2020 as we journey through scripture in a year! Within the Old Testament, this month's passages focus on the stories of Ezekiel and Daniel. Within the New Testament, our passages come from the Epistles of James, 1 & 2 Peter, and 1 & 2 John. The link for November's readings may be found here. May God's Spirit continue to rest upon us as we spend time together reading God's Word.

Mission
The Oxford Fire Department in conjunction with the Oxford and Lafayette School Districts will be providing Thanksgiving dinner to 100 families who currently receive Lovepacks. During the school year, Lovepacks provides food for hundreds of local school children who experience food insecurity in their homes. Taylor Grocery will provide turkeys through donations from the OFD. The Oxford/Lafayette community is being asked to donate food items to complete the Thanksgiving meal. If you would like to support this holiday food drive, please donate the following: canned green beans, canned who kernel corn, canned yams, boxed stuffing and boxed instant potatoes. Please deliver food donations to one of three fire stations:

  • Station 1: 399 McElroy Drive (beside the post office)
  • Station 3: 139 Highway 7 South (beside NMRC)
  • Station 4: 200 Mall Drive (beside the intramural fields)

Thank you for your support of the Oxford Fire Department in their effort to provide a Thanksgiving meal to families in need. If you would like more information about Lovepacks or to continue to support them throughout the school year, go to www.lovepacksoxford.com.

News from the Pews
CW4, David Lord, brother of Julie Field, was recently awarded The Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious service during his 30 year career in the U. S. Army National Guard.  The award is one of the U. S. military's most prestigious awards, ranking just below the Silver Star, and ahead of the Distinguished Flying Cross.  After four deployments serving as a Chinook Helicopter pilot, David has now retired from military service. The family would like to thank the members of FPC for your fervent prayers for him and other members of our military forces.
