Message from Mr. Riley
Dear Junior High Parents,

Thank you to those who attended the Back to School Night last night. We hope that it was informative and that it was nice to be able to put teacher’s faces with their names!

If you did not pick up your student’s progress report at the Back to School Night, you should soon receive it in the mail.

If you think that it would be helpful for your student to attend tutoring, please look below for information on teacher’s tutoring times. I encourage you to look with your student at their grades on FamilyLink this weekend.

Here are a few updates for next week.

God Bless,
Mr. Riley

Class Breakdown
Beginning Band: Students in Beginning Band Class have been working hard!!
Learning new notes, rhythms and new musical symbols!
Spanish 1: In Spanish we are working with the question, " ¿Qué te gusta hacer?" The grammar concept is the verb gustar and infinitives mixed with the free time activities vocabulary. Students are doing a great job understanding authentic material via edpuzzle listening and reading comprehension assessments. There is a gustar quiz on Tuesday.

7th & 8th Grade Science: Students have a test over the Scientific Method on Monday/Tuesday. The study guide for the test is due the day of the test. We will then begin to learn about matter and chemistry. Our first lab in the new chapter will be a popcorn lab and students will learn about the Law of Conservation of Mass.

Pre Algebra: We've just started the Pythagorean Theorem, and all the different ways we can apply it. It is our first time working with formulas and variables, and will be a great transition into more advanced algebraic thinking!

B2 7th Grade Math: We are working on positive and negative rational numbers, and doing lots of operations to practice. We'll be heading on to irrational numbers and square roots in the coming weeks.

R2 7th Grade Math: We are also working on positive and negative rational numbers. We're reviewing our rules for doing operations with positive and negative numbers to ensure we end up with the correct answers!

7th Grade Social Studies: We are finishing up learning about the Indus River Valley Civilization and we will start learning about Ancient China starting next week.

8th Grade Social Studies: We are finishing our study on Native American and Settler relations and moving onto learning about colonization.
